Setting the Table
The Southeast Missouri baseball team renews their rivalry with the University of Missouri this Tuesday as they head to Columbia to take on the Tigers in a 6:00 p.m. start at Taylor Stadium. It is the first meeting between the schools since 2006.

Redhawks Against Tigers
The Tigers hold a 21-9 lead in the all-time series against Southeast. The last time the two teams met was in 2006 as the Tigers downed the Redhawks 14-3 at Community America Ballpark in Kansas City, home of the Kansas City T-Bones. The Redhawks took the other two meetings that season by scores of 3-2 (Cape Girardeau) and 9-5 (Columbia). The Redhawks have won three of the last five meetings between the Tigers.

Hot Bats
Derek Gibson extended his hitting streak to six games on Sunday. He is currently second in the OVC in hitting at .366 and is also second in OVC play at .412. The junior is also hitting .400 in the month of April. The All-OVC outfielder leads the OVC in hits per game at 1.49. Dalton Hewitt hit .417 last week and .429 the previous week as he has moved his batting average to .333. He ranks 13th in the OVC in that category. Last week he added five hits in 12 at-bats with starts in right field, catcher and designated hitter. He also added a pair of RBI as he now has 18 on the season.

Double Vison
Jason Blum and Andy Lennington each recorded a pair of doubles last week for the Redhawks as they both have recorded 14 this season. The duo is tied for seventh in the Ohio Valley Conference in doubles. The two redshirt sophomores passed their career single season highs with the two doubles as they both hit 12 last season in their redshirt freshman campaigns.

Hurts So good
Southeast's Jason Blum set the single season hit-by-pitch record as he has recorded 20 on the season. He also moved to second all-time at Southeast with 29 in his career. He leads the OVC this season and ranks fourth in NCAA.

Preseason OVC Polls
The Southeast Missouri Baseball team was picked eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. Austin Peay, the OVC Co-Regular season and tournament champions in back-to-back seasons were picked to win the league with 14 first place votes. Southeast Missouri junior left fielder Derek Gibson was named Preseason All-OVC after earning First-Team All-OVC last season by the coaches and sports information directors in the OVC.
