Quick Hits
About Murray State – The Racers have won eight of their last 10 games, including a stunning 82-72 win at defending Ohio Valley Conference champion UT Martin on Saturday afternoon. MSU is the OVC's second-highest scoring team (68.6 points per game) and is third in the league in scoring defense (61.5 points allowed per game). Mariah Robinson paces the Racers with 17.1 points per game, the third-highest figure in the OVC. Erica Burgess (12.0 points per game) and Erika Sisk (11.5) are also averaging double-digit points to balance out the Murray State attack. The Racers also boast three of the conference's top 12 rebounders in Kelsey Dirks (ninth; 7.0 rebounds per game), Jessica Winfrey (t-10th; 6.7) and Robinson (12th; 6.5). Murray State thrives defensively on forcing turnovers as its +4.23 turnover margin per game is second in the league and the 19.5 opponent turnovers per game is also second in the league.

Last Meeting – Southeast dropped its second close game against Murray State in a row at the CFSB Center last February. Erica Burgess' three-point play snapped a 60-60 tie in the final minute of the Racers' eventual 63-62 win. Brittany Harriel posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Redhawks held a 30-23 lead at halftime, but found themselves down 51-41 midway through the second half. An 11-0 Southeast run made it 52-51, but the Redhawks did not hold another lead for the rest of the game.

With a win, Southeast would…
•Win two-straight games for the first time since Dec. 4-7, 2010.

•Match last season's win total.

•Be above .500 in conference play for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

•Defeat Murray State for only the second time in the last seven meetings.

Lights Out Shooting – Southeast had a breakout game against Austin Peay, ending a bit of a scoring slump with 71 points, its most since scoring 78 on opening night against Wright State. The Redhawks had not scored more than 58 points in any of its previous five games before Saturday's effort. Southeast also shot a season-best 47.4 percent from the field, the first time it shot 40 percent in four games since hitting 42.9 percent of its shots in a Dec. 8 win over Western Illinois.

Welcome Back – Southeast got a huge lift from senior forward Brittany Harriel in its latest win over Austin Peay. Harriel, who missed seven games and played 10 scoreless minutes in her return at Belmont, scored a season-high 19 points off the bench to help the Redhawks post a victory over the Lady Govs. Harriel made 8-of-13 shots, including a three-pointer for her first game with double-digit points since tallying 13 at Arkansas State on Nov. 19. The senior scored in double figures in Southeast's first four games prior to her injury and she led the team in scoring (10.2 points per game) and rebounds (6.9 per game) last season.

Bradshaw Back in the Stat Sheet – Sophomore Allyson Bradshaw had difficulty getting comfortable on the court a couple weeks ago, but she appears to be coming back around. The Cape Girardeau, Mo., native missed the Redhawks' game at Western Kentucky on Dec. 16 with an injury to her non-shooting shoulder and played nine scoreless minutes the next time out against Missouri State on Dec. 21. It appears the break in the schedule has done Bradshaw good as she has scored 10 points off the bench in consecutive games against Belmont and Austin Peay.

Some More Wins – While Southeast is below .500 at 6-8, the improvement this team has shown compared to recent seasons is remarkable. Southeast is one win short of last season's total, when it went 7-22 in head coach Ty Margenthaler's first season. With its Jan. 5 win over Austin Peay, Southeast picked up six victories far earlier than it did in the previous three years, when the program went a combined 22-64. The Redhawks are off to their best 14-game start since starting 6-8 in the 2008-09 year, when they went 15-15 and finished fifth in the OVC at 10-8.

14-Game Records Since 2009-10
2009-10: 5-9
2010-11: 5-9
2011-12: 3-11
2012-13: 6-8

Hunter Gets Back on Track – Junior point guard Jordan Hunter had a difficult stretch taking care of the ball, but she has made strides in preventing turnovers lately. The Papakura, New Zealand native committed 27 turnovers (5.4 per game) over five games from Nov. 24 to Dec. 8. In her last four games, however, Hunter has turned the ball over only nine times (2.4 per game) while dishing out 17 assists (4.3 per game). In two OVC games, Hunter has 13 assists against only four turnovers and is leading the team with 17 points per game.
