Soccer Heads to Nebraska for Saturday Matinee

The Redhawks and Cornhuskers meet for the first time in both school's histories on Saturday afternoon.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. ­– The Southeast Missouri soccer team concludes its three-match road swing when it squares off against Nebraska out of the Big Ten Conference on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff for the match is at 1 p.m. CT.

Quick Kicks
•Saturday will be Southeast's first meeting against Nebraska in school history.

•The Redhawks are 1-4 all-time against schools from the Big Ten Conference. The lone win came against Iowa on Sept. 18, 2005, a 2-1 victory.

•Saturday marks Southeast's first match played in the state of Nebraska.

•Southeast is looking to avoid its second three-match winless streak of the year after beginning the season 0-2-1 before notching its first win.

•The Redhawks have not been shut out in three-straight matches since going four straight without scoring to open the 2008 season (Aug. 29-Sept. 19).

News and Notes:

Last Week ­– Southeast dropped a pair of contests to Louisville (ranked 14th in the Soccer America top 25) and Kentucky at the Tropical Smoothie Invitational over the weekend by scores of 4-0 and 1-0, respectively. Ashton Aubuchon made her first start since the season opener in Sunday's match against UK, making three saves. Aubuchon and Hayley Abbott each earned spots on the weekend's all-tournament team, the second-straight year both received all-tournament honors in Lexington.

Scouting Nebraska – The Cornhuskers are off to a 2-4 start to the season with three of their losses by a single goal. Nebraska has won two of its last three contests since dropping three-straight one-goal decisions to start the year. Katie Kraeutner and Mayme Conroy lead Nebraska with two goals apiece and Kraeutner has a team-high five points. Emma Stevens has gotten the lions share of the minutes in goal, starting five times with a 1.58 goals against average and a shutout.

Youth Soccer Promotions – September is National Youth Soccer Month and Southeast is running promotions during the month. Southeast plays Evansville (Sept. 11; Club Team Night), UT Martin (Sept. 21; Rec Team Night), Louisiana Tech (Sept. 23; Free Admission with Sept. 22 football ticket), Murray State (Sept. 28) and Ausitn Peay (Sept. 30; Free youth clinic after the match).
