CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -

Marland Smith scored 1,000 in his career to lead Southeast Missouri (13-11, 8-4) to a commanding 86-56 win over UT Martin (3-23, 0-13) Thursday night at the Show Me Center.
Smith scored seven in the second half to get him the exact amount of points he needed to join Southeast's 1,000-point club. He is the first Redhawk to score 1,000 points in a career since Derek Winans had 1,505 from 2001-05.
"It feels great. I've been here three years and I really wanted to accomplish this at home," said Smith.
Smith, who scored only two points in the first half, reached his milestone on a layup with 22 seconds left, the final basket of the game.
"Marland is a very unselfish player," said Southeast head coach
Dickey Nutt. "His stats show that tonight. He also had six assists when he could have been shooting the ball those times."
Ten different players scored in a balanced effort which sent UT Martin to its 14th-consecutive loss.
Southeast led the entire game en route to securing its 10th home victory of the season. As a result, the Redhawks posted 10 home wins in a season for the first time since 2004-05.

Stone later ripped off eight more points to ignite a 12-4 run in the final four minutes. Four of Stone's points came off dunks, one of which he threw down off a
Marland Smith pass as the buzzer sounded to end the half.
Smith's three-pointer extended the Redhawks lead to 83-53 with 1:57 left before Southeast put its 13th win on ice.
Stone missed just three times from the field, hitting 9-of-12 shots. He also pulled down six rebounds and chipped in two blocks.

Mike Liabo led UT Martin with 16 points, as the Skyhawks fell to 1-13 on the road this year. UT Martin shot just 35 percent (21-of-60) from the field.
