Quick Hits
About Austin Peay – The Lady Govs are deadlocked with the Redhawks in the OVC standings with their 4-11 league record (7-21 overall). Saturday's winner will secure the final spot in next week's conference tournament. APSU had a brief two-game winning streak snapped on Thursday night's 86-62 loss at OVC Champion UT Martin. The Lady Govs are fifth in the league in scoring offense (65.0 points per game) and ninth in scoring defense (72.2 points per game). The offense has improved to fourth (69.2) in league play, though the defense slipped to 10th (75.2) since the OVC slate began.

Critical Stretch – Thursday night's victory at Jacksonville State kept Southeast in control of its postseason fate. The Redhawks and Lady Govs sit in a tie for the final spot in next week's OVC Tournament. A victory by Southeast on Saturday will give the Redhawks the seventh seed in the tournament as it will finish tied in the final standings with Tennessee State with Southeast owning the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Durable Beck – Senior Bianca Beck has been a model of durability in her time at Southeast. The St. Louis, Mo., native has played in all of the Redhawks' games since arriving in 2008-09. Beck's 115 career games played is the third most by any Southeast player since the program went Division I prior to the 1991-92 season. Only Rachel Blunt (123 games) and Tarina Nixon (120 games) have stepped on the floor in more games in the Redhawks' Division I era.

Streak Breaker – The Redhawks' first road win of the season could not have come at a better time as it placed them one step closer to clinching their first OVC Tournament appearance since the 2008-09 season. Southeast's 54-47 victory at Jacksonville State on Thursday snapped a 17-game road losing streak. Southeast is now aiming for its first consecutive road victories since the 2009-10 season when it won at Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State.

Big Start – Southeast's offense was clicking early on in its victory at Jacksonville State. The Redhawks shot 50 percent and put up 32 points, a start that allowed the Redhawks to pick up their first road win of the year. The 50 percent shooting marked Southeast's second-highest percentage of the year, matching the 50 percent figure from the first half of its contest at UIC on Nov. 15. The only half with a better output was the second half against Murray State on Dec. 31, when it made 58.6 percent of its attempts.

Harriel Heats Up – Junior forward Brittany Harriel has been an offensive catalyst as of late. The Cincinnati, Ohio native has scored in double figures 12 times and recorded six double-doubles in her past 16 games. This coming after notching only two double-doubles in her first two seasons. Harriel willed the Redhawks to a tight, 56-52, win over Longwood on Dec. 20 with 18 points while tying a career-high with 13 rebounds. She scored nine of Southeast's last 10 points and went 8-for-9 from the charity stripe to help secure the victory. Two games later, Harriel began a streak of three-straight double-doubles. She poured in a career-high 26 points to go with 12 rebounds as the Redhawks nearly erased an 11-point deficit in the second half against Murray State on New Year's Eve. In Southeast's win over Jacksonville State on Jan. 2, the junior scored 12 points and corralled a team-high 11 rebounds. She made it three straight with 11 points and 11 rebounds at Eastern Kentucky on Jan. 7 and tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds in Monday's contest against SIU Edwardsville. She also scored a team-high 12 points at Tennessee Tech on Jan. 21 while chipping in 15 points in a win over Austin Peay on Jan. 30. The Cincinnati, Ohio native tallied 11 points at Eastern Illinois on Feb. 1. While she just missed a double-double against Tennessee State, Harriel did add a career-high 15 rebounds to her eight points in the win before scoring 16 points and adding 10 rebounds at Murray State on Feb. 11. That started a string of three-straight double-digit point totals as she scored 10 points at SIU Edwardsville and a team-high 16 against UT Martin. The junior forward got off to a hot start on Thursday, scoring 13 of the Redhawks' first 20 points while finishing with 17 in the victory at Jacksonville State. Harriel has scored in double figures 16 times this year, tied with Bailie Roberts for the most on the team.

Running Point – Senior guard Bianca Beck has moved on from a junior year that saw her struggle at the point. Beck has dished out a career-best 96 assists and sports a 1.30 assist to turnover ratio (eighth best in the OVC). In league play, Beck ranks eighth among all OVC players with 3.6 assists per game.  The senior has also been a pleasant surprise on the glass, ranking fifth on the team with 4.3 rebounds per contest. On New Year's Eve, the St. Louis, Mo. native dished out a career-high nine assists against Murray State. She recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against Samford on Nov. 26. This is a welcome sign after a 2010-11 campaign that saw her commit 78 turnovers against only 44 assists. She has also scored in double figures seven times this season, surpassing her combined total from the last two years, and tied her career high in scoring (13 points) on three separate occasions.

Moving up the List – Junior center Courtney Shiffer continued her ascent through the top 10 of Southeast's career blocked shots list. The Freeport, Ill., native swatted her 56th career shot against UT Martin on Saturday, tying Southeast Hall of Famer Pat Colon for the ninth most in school history.
