Redhawk Softball Signee Tianna Stockley Dies in Car Accident

Tianna Stockley
Southeast Missouri softball signee Tianna Stockley died in a one-vehicle car accident early Sunday morning.

The 18-year old Stockley, who was driving, lost control of the car, veered off the roadway and crashed through a cable barrier. The car then overturned and came to a stop on the eastbound lane of Interstate-44 near St. Louis. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We are so saddened by this tragic and shocking news,” said Southeast head coach Lana Richmond. “Our entire Southeast Missouri family is devastated.”

Stockley signed with the Redhawks during the early signing period in November. She was a two-time All-State and All-Region shortstop at Sullivan High School. A left-handed hitter, Stockley ranked 18th in her class with a 3.83 GPA. She saw action at three positions, including shortstop, second base and pitcher, earning All-Conference and All-District laurels in three of her prep campaigns.

“Tianna committed to us early and was looking very forward to joining our softball program,” added Richmond. “We recruited her as Renee Kertz's replacement at shortstop. My heart goes out to Mike and Sherri Stockley, and their entire family. They are in our thoughts and prayers.”

Funeral arrangements are pending.
