Quick Hits
About Southern Illinois – The Salukis are winless at 0-6. Four of SIU's six losses have been by 12 or more points, including last Saturday's 67-55 setback at Murray State. The Salukis are allowing 76 points per game, the worst in the Missouri Valley Conference and 331st (out of 343) in the country. Cartaesha Macklin leads SIU with 14.7 points per game and Dyana Pierre is SIU's top rebounder with 10 rebounds per game.

Last Meeting – During the 2005-06 season, Southeast trailed SIU 32-31 at halftime, but began the second half on a 26-4 run to take control of the game. The Salukis never got closer than 11 points, the 74-63 final score, the rest of the way.

With a win, Southeast would…
•Start 5-4 for the first time since the 2006-07 season when it won the OVC regular season and tournament championships.

•Surpass its road win total from last season.

•Remain undefeated (3-0) against SIU since moving to Division I (1991-92 season).

•Win two consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 4-7, 2010.

What a Difference a Year Makes – The Redhawks have made big strides under second-year head coach Ty Margenthaler. Through eight non-conference games, Southeast sits with a 4-4 record. At this time last year, the Redhawks were 1-7. With four wins, Southeast has already surpassed its non-conference win total of three from the 2011-12 season.

Hunter Coming On – Junior point guard Jordan Hunter is coming into her own as the season progresses. After shooting only 30.8 percent from the field and averaging 6.0 points per game in her first four games, Hunter averaged 11.5 points on 47.2 percent shooting in the last four contests, including a season-high 18 against UIC last Saturday. She has also become a crunch time weapon for Southeast, scoring the game-winning basket on the Redhawks' final possession in two victories. On Nov. 19, Hunter drove to the hoop for a layup with four seconds on the clock to give Southeast a 52-51 win at Arkansas State. The Papakura, New Zealand native came through down the stretch again on Nov. 24, when her bucket with six seconds left provided the winning points of a 55-54 victory over Texas-Pan American at the David Jones Classic.

Bradshaw Packs Scoring Punch – Sophomore guard Allyson Bradshaw is providing a more consistent scoring threat now that she has a year under her belt. The Cape Girardeau, Mo., native has scored in double figures in four of her eight starts this year after doing so five times in 29 games off the bench as a freshman. Bradshaw has been lethal from long range, making 42.1 percent of her three-pointers and making two treys per game (third most in the OVC). Against Kansas on Nov. 14, Bradshaw scored 17 points and shot a perfect 5-of-5 from three point range. After going four-straight games without scoring in double figures, Bradshaw came on in the second half against UIC, where she scored 10 of her 13 points to help the Redhawks defeat the Flames.

A Better Start – Returning home seemed to help Southeast start off its last game in much better fashion than it has lately. The Redhawks led UIC 32-31 at halftime, snapping a streak of six-straight games they trailed going into the break. The Redhawks' 32 first half points on Saturday marked the first time since opening night against Wright State that they recorded 30 or more points in the first half. Prior to Saturday's victory, Southeast trailed on the road against UMKC (25-23), Kansas (34-27), Arkansas State (30-16), Houston (31-29), Texas-Pan American (35-25) and Missouri (36-26).

Don't Turn That Dial – Southeast has proven to never truly be out of a game this season. The Redhawks have trailed by 10 or more points in the second half in five-straight games, but have come back to win two of those contests and fought back to within five points in two others. Southeast trailed Arkansas State by 14 at halftime and fell behind Texas-Pan American by 12 in the second half before winning both of those games. Against then-No. 25 Kansas, Southeast went down by 11 points in the second half and tied the contest up before eventually falling to the Jayhawks. Even a seemingly lopsided 61-44 loss to Houston saw the Redhawks come within five points after trailing the Cougars by 15 points early in the final stanza.

Scoring Balance – The Redhawks have had outstanding depth to their scoring thus far this season, as evidenced by the fact that eight different players have scored 10+ points in a game at least once this season through the first eight games. The Redhawks have had 20 individual performances of 10 or more points, something that happened 63 times in 29 games during the 2011-12 season. Five Southeast players have scored in double figures multiple times this season, including three players who have done it four times apiece. Another statistic highlighting Southeast's depth is the fact that no Redhawk is in the top-10 in the OVC in minutes played and only Bailie Roberts (31 minutes per game) is averaging over 30 minutes per contest.
