Courtney Gapelu broke the Southeast Missouri women's outdoor shot put record with a throw of 52-1 at the NCAA West Region Prelims in Austin, Texas on May 25. A native of Independence, Mo., Gapelu surpassed her own previous mark of 51-3 at the Lenny Lyles-Clark Wood Invitational earlier this year. She ended her season with a 19th-place finish in the event.
