Courtney Gapelu, who hails from Independence, Mo., broke the women's outdoor school record in the shot put in Louisville. The junior tossed 51-3, breaking Heather Jenkins' 2004 record throw of 51-0. Gapelu also owns the indoor shot put record at 51-9. She ranks 27th in the region and leads the OVC in the shot put.
