Shea DeGraaf was named the 2022 OVC Male Athlete of the Championship as he helped the Southeast Missouri men’s track & field team capture the Outdoor title May 13 in Murray, Kentucky, to complete the sweep of men's team Championships this season. DeGraaf earned the 2022 OVC Decathlon Championship with 6,501 points to sweep the season’s multis competitions after setting the league Championship record in 2021 (6,886 points, second in SEMO program history). The junior from Knoxville, Tennessee, successfully defended his Decathlon crown from 2021 and has captured OVC Gold in multis competitions in each of the last three OVC Championships (2022 OVC Decathlon Champion, 2022 OVC Indoor Heptathlon Champion and 2021 OVC Decathlon Champion). In his career, DeGraaf has not finished lower then second in an OVC multis Championship. He also scored in the 110-meter hurdles (15.00, sixth), high jump (6-4, 1.93m, seventh), pole vault (14-8, 4.47m, fourth) and javelin (168-7, 51.38m, fifth) for the Redhawks to total 24 points at the 2022 OVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Murray, Kentucky. DeGraaf swept this year's OVC Male Athlete of the Championship at both the Indoor and Outdoor Championship.
