Logan Blomquist registered a trio of top-two performances including a pair of career bests at Illinois State's Redbird Challenge April 15-16 at the Redbird Track & Field Complex. Blomquist, a senior from Pleasant Hill, Missouri, won the hammer throw and finished second in both the discus and shot put. Blomquist took first in the hammer throw with a personal-best distance and Redbird Challenge record of 235-2 (71.68m). He surpassed his previous PR of 232-6 (70.87m) set at the Rhodes Invitational March 18-19 and the former Redbird Challenge record of 67.14m set by Curtis Wideman of Southern Illinois in 2015. Blomquist leads the NCAA West Region for hammer and ranks second in all of NCAA Division I for the event in 2022. Blomquist also had a personal-best shot put mark of 59-0.75 (18.00m) for second overall at ISU's meet. He now ranks fifth all-time in SEMO program history for the event. In the NCAA West Region, Blomquist ranks 29th for shot put. Lastly, he was the runner-up in the discus with 164-9 (50.21m). He is 36th in the NCAA West Region in 2022 for discus.
