Track & Field’s 2015-16 indoor season kicked off at the Eastern Illinois Early Bird Invitational in Charleston, Illinois on Dec. 11. Senior Kayla Gutierrez captured first-place in the weight throw with a near record breaking throw of 65’6.75” (19.98m). Gutierrez previously set the school record at 65'7" in 2014 at the Redhawks Invitational. Guiterrez also competed in shot put, earning fourth-place finish with toss of 44’9” (13.46m).
