Southeast Missouri redshirt-freshman running back Geno Hess was named Ohio Valley Conference Co-Newcomer of the Week Sunday after he ran for a career-high 156 yards and two touchdowns in SEMO's 32-13 victory over Tennessee State Saturday. A native of Peoria, Illinois, Hess carried the ball 14 times and averaged over 11 yards (11.1) per touch. He scored both of his touchdowns in the second half with an 18-yard run in the third quarter and a 73-yard rush early in the fourth. Hess' 73-yard run is SEMO's longest rushing play of the season.
