Right-hander Travis Hayes threw Southeast Missouri’s first complete game of the season against SIU Edwardsville on Apr. 6. Hayes tossed eight-straight scoreless innings after giving up a run in the first. He also struck out five, walked two and faced 36 hitters. Hayes also retired eight-straight Cougar hitters at one point. He improved his record to 4-0 and completed a three-game sweep for the Redhawks. In addition, Hayes became the first Southeast pitcher to get a nine-inning complete game win since Will Spitzfadden accomplished the feat at New Orleans on Feb. 17, 2013.
