Redhawks Fall Twice to UT Martin Saturday

MARTIN, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri (6-18, 2-3) fell to UT Martin (16-12, 4-2) by scores of 5-0 and 7-2 in a doubleheader Saturday. 
 
With the wins, UTM completed a three-game sweep.
 
The Skyhawks scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to key their game one victory.
 
Jordyn Hustey had a two-RBI center and Kennedy Brown hit a two-RBI double for UTM's runs in the fifth. The Skyhawks added one more in the sixth to end the scoring.
 
The Redhawks had a runner on third with one out in the first but came up empty during their best scoring chance.
 
Ashtyn Green (4-3) pitched a complete game shutout with five strikeouts. Green also allowed just four hits and walked two.
 
Willow Van Haren (1-5) took the loss. Van Haren allowed four runs on six hits, walked seven and struck out five in five innings.
 
Aubrie Shore went 2-for-3 to lead SEMO.
 
In game two, the Redhawks made it a one-run game when Lily Delmain and Lilly Blagoue hit back-to-back home runs to trim UTM's lead to 3-2 in the top of the sixth inning.
 
The Skyhawks, however, answered with four runs during their at-bat in the sixth to pull away for good.
 
Sami Scholtz (5-3) tossed 5.2 no-hit innings until giving up the pair of home runs. Scholtz struck out six and walked one, as well.
 
Elliott Stinson (2-5) recorded one strikeout, walked two and gave up three runs on three hits in four innings. Summer Branch and Brooklyn Saysoff each pitched one inning in relief.
 
SEMO returns to action when it travels to Southern Indiana for a three-game series on Mar. 21-22.
