Track and Field Athletes Set 12 Season Best Marks

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Southeast Missouri Track and Field teams wrapped up the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite with strong individual performances.
The Redhawk athletes combined for 12 season best marks, on day two.
On the track, the distance runners set seven season best times highlighted by Madelyn Gray finishing 14th in the mile in 4:54.0 and Kayla Vogelsang who finished the 5000-meters in 17:46.8 finishing 12th. Cole Reinders (4:09.9), Ian Schwierjohn (4:19.8) and Byron Sowerby (4:21.9) all set personal best marks in the mile. The sprint crew was highlighted by Brianna Dixon who placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.70. Clara Billing also competed in the event and finished 14th in the semifinals but set a season best mark of 8.84.
The field athletes were led by Trenton Braswell, finishing 15th in the shot put with a distance of 51-7. Quinton Maxwell also threw in the event and reached a season best mark of 47-.25. In the women's shot put Andreese Ortiz finished 16th overall to top other Redhawks with a distance of 42-3.5. Baylee Beard (41-8.75) and Bailie Hux (38-9.5) also set season best marks.
The Redhawks will return to the track Friday when they participate in the Missouri Classic, in Columbia.
