
Volleyball Captures 17th-Straight AVCA Team Academic Award in 2024-25

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri Volleyball received the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT, the organization announced on Monday morning.
The award marked the 24th time in program history and the 17th-straight season the program has secured the coveted award for their performance in the classroom. The award recognizes high school and college volleyball programs that maintained a year long grade-point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
The Redhawks also secured an additional distinction of AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll which landed the program in the top 20-percent of GPAs nationally in Division I women's volleyball. This feat marks the first time in the program's history to earn the academic status.
"This award shows the dedication that our program strives for in the classroom." Head Coach Julie Yankus said about the distinction. "I am proud of our girls for striving to not only be the best on the court, but in the classroom as well."

The association's mission is to advance the sport of volleyball with AVCA coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development. The membership includes more than 10,000 collegiate, professional, high school, club, and youth volleyball coaches—primarily in the United States. The AVCA represents women's volleyball, men's volleyball, and beach volleyball coaches, and works to increase exposure and recognition for the sport of volleyball.
