CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri track and field put three athletes on top of the podium during day one of the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship. The Redhawks ended day one with 15 top ten marks, with seven being podium finishes and 14 new personal bests.
Seven Redhawk athletes also punched their ticket to the finals in their respective event. After day one both the men's and women's teams are in first with 42 and 34 total points.
Champions
Bailie Hux claimed the top spot on the podium in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 183' 10" (PR), ranking fifth in the SEMO records.
Paden Lewis claimed the crown in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 206' 8".
Clara Billing wins the pole vault event for the third straight year after clearing a height of 13' 4.75".
Podium Finishes
Makenzie Williams was wearing the bronze after the women's hammer throw finished with a final distance of 183' 01".
Sullivan Gleason vaulted over a height of 15' 9" for third in the pole vault.
Clay Alewelt posted a throw of 197' 6" in the hammer throw for third place.
Noah Little raced to a time of 32:31.88 in the 10,000m for the silver medal.
Top Ten Marks
Baylee Beard and
Andreese Ortiz placed fifth and eighth in the hammer throw with marks of 169' 7" and 153' 4" (PR).
Colin Beers cleared a bar height of 15' 9" in the pole vault to take fourth in the event.
With sixth and ninth place finishes
Quinton Maxwell and
Josiah Kilgore recorded marks of 153' 5" and 127' 6".
Connor Moore finished in 13th and notched a new personal best in the 200m dash (22.27).
With a time of 32:42.62
Garrett Dumke finished in fifth place in the 10,000m.
The women's 10,000m saw
Kayla Vogelsang grabbed eighth with a new PR time of 38:38.61,
Brooklyn Bender placed 10th (39:06.72) and
Haley Smith finished with a new personal record time of 41:36.20 (17th).
Headed To The Finals
In the men's 1500m
Evan Fuller (3:56.54) ,
Cole Reinders (3:56.61), and
Justin Splitt (3:57.21) are all headed to the finals.
Marcus Gordon grabbed the seventh qualifying spot in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 55.92.
Madelyn Gray crossed the line at 4:38.12 to stake her spot in the 1500m finals.
Laila Hardin jumped over hurdles for 400m in 1:01.52 to advance to the finals.
Sydney Burdine clocked in at 24.39 to advance to the finals in the 200m.
Deca Day One
Southeast Missouri has two athletes,
Jake Casey and
Luis Schadlich, competing in the Men's Decathlon.
After five events in the decathlon Casey has chalked up 3558 (2nd) and Schadlich notched 2069 (9th).
To start off the meet Casey placed second with a time of 11.00 (PR) and Schadlich placed fifth with a time of 11.38 in the 100-meters.
Casey nearly recorded a new PR placing second in the long jump, 22' 9.25". Schadlich notched a jump of 21' 6.25" for fourth place.
New personal best for Casey in the shot put, 39' 8.00" while also placing second. Schadlich recorded a jump of 38' 00" placing fourth.
In the high jump Casey cleared a height of 5' 11.75" for the bronze and finished in fourth in the 400m (53.95).
Hepta Day One
Anna Thomason,
Tayler Gudde, and
Kendall Holweg are the Redhawks featured in the women's Heptathlon.
After four events in the heptathlon Thomason resides in third with 2817 points, Holweg is in fourth with 2672 points and Gudde remains in fifth with 2668 points.
The first race of the meet was the 100-meter hurdles that saw Gudde place seventh (16.01), Holweg place eighth (16.12, PR), and Thomason place 11th (18.34).
Next up was the high jump where Thomason jumped over the height of 5' 6.50" for a new PR and a first place finish. Holweg tied her personal best, clearing the height of 5' 0.75" for fourth place. Gudde placed seventh with a jump of 4' 9.00".
Gudde and Thomason (new PR) placed first and second in the shot put (36' 8.50", 35' 9.50"). Holweg crushed her PR, placing sixth with a distance of 32' 0.75".
In the 200m dash Thomason, Holweg, and Gudde crossed the line at 24.51 (1st), 26.06 (3rd, PR), and 26.18 (4th, PR).
Day Two
Tomorrow the meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the multis events. The field events are set for 2:30 p.m. with the men's discus. The track events are slated for 5:00 p.m. with the men's Men's 110m hurdle prelims.
