CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Team Premier Physical Therapy held off Team Innovative Orthodontics for a 28-20 win in Southeast Missouri's Rowdy Bowl II Spring Football Game Saturday night at Houck Field.
SEMO wrapped up its slate of 15 spring practices with its Rowdy Bowl powered by SOAR Collective.
Team Premier Physical Therapy, led by honorary Head Coach Dennis Riney, took its first lead when
Landon Sylvie intercepted a pass and ran 15 yards to the end zone giving his team a 7-3 advantage late in the first quarter.
Cam Pedro sprinted 20 yards for a touchdown to extend Team Premier Physical Therapy's lead to 14-6 with 10:28 remaining in the second period.
Portageville native
Jamarion Smith then ran for 44 yards to set up Team Premier Physical Therapy's next score, a 9-yard touchdown pass from
Jax Leatherwood to
Jamauri Chislom.
Down, 21-6, Team Innovative Orthodontics, led by honorary Head Coach Terry Spence, started chipping away.
Defensive lineman
Sam Keeper intercepted a pass and that takeaway led to a 15-yard touchdown run by quarterback
Patrick Heitert dropping Team Physical Therapy's lead to
21-12 at halftime.
Leatherwood threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to
Donnie Cheers for the only points in the third quarter as Team Physical Therapy widened its lead to 28-12.
Team Innovative Orthodontics made it a one-score game when
David Jones picked off a pass and ran 35 yards down the far sideline for a touchdown narrowing Team Premier Physical Therapy's lead to 28-20 following the two-point conversion.
Team Innovative Orthodontics had the ball with two minutes left and made it all the way to Team Premier Physical Therapy's 18-yard line before Heitert's pass was knocked down an a fourth-and-long.
A great crowd was on hand to support the Redhawks in this year's contest which ended with a fifth quarter postgame event with Porta Party DJs in the east end zone.
