CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri Baseball (22-17, 9-5 OVC) fell in the second game of the series to Lindenwood (18-20, 7-6 OVC) by a final score of 10-4 at Capaha Field on Friday evening.
The Redhawks scored just four runs, on five hits, led by first baseman
Bryce Cannon who finished 3-4 at the plate with his team-leading 13
th double of the season. He drove in an RBI, his 30
th of the season.
The Lions scored the first two runs of the game with a run in the first and second inning before the Redhawks responded in the third with an RBI sacrifice fly by short stop
Brooks Kettering. After three innings, LU led 2-1.
A six run fourth inning from LU blew the game open as the Lions recorded two, three-run home runs in the inning to make it 8-1.
The Redhawks would respond with a run in the bottom half of the inning. Left fielder
Ty Stauss blasted his second home run of the season, this one to right field to make it 8-2.
Stauss' fourth inning home run led to three-straight innings with a run for the Redhawks as they scored a run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning(s). Cannon's RBI came in the fifth inning on an RBI single to left field, while catcher
Shea McGahan recorded a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Redhawks could not muster another run the rest of the way as the Lions held on for the 10-4 victory on Friday night.
