CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Bobby McMillen Chase Johnson and Evan Schweers joined Southeast Missouri's football staff Tuesday.
McMillen was hired as inside linebackers coach, Johnson takes over as recruiting coordinator and nickelbacks coach and Schweers will be the team's video coordinator.
A native of Naperville, Illinois, McMillen comes to Cape Girardeau after spending the 2024 season as co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at Utah State.
Before that, he worked two years as the linebackers coach at New Mexico State, helping the Aggies to a 17-11 record, consecutive bowl game appearances and a berth in the 2023 Conference USA championship game. McMillen was also a special teams analyst (2021) and graduate assistant (2020) at TCU.
McMillen played linebacker at Iowa State from 2015-19. There, he played in 33 games and tallied 37 tackles, one sack and two pass breakups in his career. McMillen's tenure included trips to three bowl games and six wins over Top-25 teams, as well.
Johnson worked the 2024 campaign as special teams coordinator at Pittsburg State University. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M for three years. Johnson played linebacker at PSU from 2019-21.
Meanwhile, Schweers was a graduate assistant and tight ends coach at Western New Mexico State before joining the SEMO staff.
