Men and Women in First Following Day One of the Championship

Indianapolis, Ind. - The throwing team headlined day one of the 2025 Ohio Valley Championships putting five athletes on the podium. As a team the Redhawks recorded 27 top ten finishes with nine being podium finishes. 11 new personal records were set and 12 athletes will run in the finals of their respective events.

Both the men's and women's teams are in first following day one competition. The men's team totaled 57.5 points ahead of Eastern Illinois in second with 43 points. The women's team notched 52 points, 11 points ahead of Little Rock in second.

Atop the Podium
Bailie Hux threw for a new personal best mark of 59' 5.5" in the women's weight throw to stand alone atop the podium.

Paden Lewis chalked up a final distance of 71' 2" to take home the gold in the men's weight throw.

Clara Billing wins the pole vault event for the third year in a row after vaulting over a height of 12" 11.5".

Medal Worthy
Makenzie Williams and Baylee Beard chalked up distances of 58' 8.75" and 57' 10.5" (PR) for the silver and the bronze in the women's weight throw.

Clay Alewelt is wearing the silver after a throw of 61' 5.75" in the men's weight throw.

Kenyon Johnson jumped 24' 1.5" worth of sand and grabbed the bronze while he landed in the long jump.

Noah Little took home the silver medal in the 5000m after crossing the line at 14:42.56.

Lauren Eftink, Alaina Lester, Erika Mellor, and Layla Fliege ran the DMR in 12:05.88 to grab the bronze medal.

Notable Finishes
With a throw of 51' 3.75" Andreese Ortiz threw for a new personal best and a fifth place finish.

In the women's long jump Anna Thomason jumped to a fourth place finish (18' 9.75") and Molly Grohmann finished in sixth (18' 9.25").

With cleared heights of 6' 5.5" and 6' 3.5" Mason Clough took sixth, John Hartman placed eighth, and Greg Dennis notched 10th.

Quinton Maxwell and Josiah Kilgore recorded marks of 51' 5.5" and 49' 1.5 for fifth and seventh in the men's weight throw.

Lester crossed the line at 58.40 (15th) for a new personal record in the 400m dash.

Dominic Revels sprinted for 60m to take ninth with a time of 7.00 and Cole Brundermann finished with a PR time of 7.05.

Tyler Anderson and Louis Primeau both achieved new personal best times in the 800m, clocking in at 1:54.25 (8th) and 1:55.67 (15th).

Aarion Jackson long jumped to a distance of 23' 10.75" for fourth and new personal record while Bruendermann placed 10th with a mark of 22' 2.5".

Breanna Miles' time stopped at 57.17 in the 400m where she placed seventh.

Skylar Prescott vaulted over a height of 10' 11.75 for ninth in the pole vault.

In the men's 5000m Garrett Dumke (5th), Nick Cimmarusti (6th), and Myles Thronburg (9th) notched times of 14:48.43, 14:57.37, and 15:09.68.

Brooklyn Bender's 5000m time of 18:13.44 (15th) was good enough for a new personal best.

The men's DMR squad of Byron Sowerby, Primeau, Anderson, and Evan Fuller placed fourth with a finishing time of 10:12.13.

Headed to the Finals
With a time of 8.31 Marcus Gordon punched his ticket to the 60m hurdle finals.

Three Redhawk women are headed to the final in the 60m hurdles; Anna Thomason (8.51), Brianna Dixon (8.68), and Clara Billing (8.77, PR).

Sydney Burdine (56.98) and Laila Hardin (57.04) grabbed a spot in the women's 400m finals.

Lester recorded a time of 7.76 to claim her spot in the 60m finals and record a new PR.

With a time of 1:52.81 Cole Reinders is racing in the 800m finals.

Mellor (2:16.35) and Mattea Pearsall (2:21.47) wrote their names down on the 800m final list.

Miles and Burdine are headed to the 200m finals with times of 24.17 and 24.76.

Heptathlon Day One
After four events in the heptathlon Luis Schadlich is in fourth with 2861 points and Jake Casey sits in fifth with 2798 total points.

During the 60m Casey and Schadlich crossed the line at 7.18 (3rd) and 7.21 (4th).

Schadlich jumped for a distance of 22' 5.25" for third and Casey achieved a mark of 21' 8.75 for fifth in the long jump.

The shot put saw Casey throw for a distance of 38' 7.75" for second place and Schadlich post a distance of 36' 11.75" for fourth.

Schadlich tied his personal best high jump mark of 6' 2.75" for third place. Casey cleared a height of 6' 0.5" in the high jump for a new personal record.

Day Two
Day two of the championship will begin at 9:00 a.m., EST, with the pentathlon. The field events are slated for 11:00 a.m., with the women's high jump and the track events are scheduled for 12:30 p.m., with the men's mile. The awards presentation is set for 4:15 p.m.
