Redhawks Continue Tournament Play
•   Southeast Missouri (2-2) heads to Chattanooga, Tennessee for the Frost Classic this weekend.
•   SEMO will play five games at the event with two on Friday, two Saturday and one Sunday.Â
•   The Redhawks face Illinois State (9 a.m.) and Lamar (11:30 a.m.) Friday; IU Indy (11:30 a.m.) and Indiana State (2 p.m.) Saturday; and tournament host Chattanooga (11:30 a.m.) Sunday.
•   SEMO makes its third appearance in the Frost Classic with Mark Redburn as its head coach.
•   The Redhawks were previously in the Frost Classic in 2023 and 2018. SEMO is 7-2 all-time at the event after going 2-1 in 2023 and 5-1 in 2018.
Frost Classic Field
•   Southeast Missouri is one of six teams in Frost Classic which runs from Feb. 21-23 this weekend.
•   SEMO (2-2) joins Illinois State (2-7), Lamar (6-3), Indiana State (1-8), IU Indy (2-5) and tournament host Chattanooga (3-7).Â
•   The Redhawks and Lamar are the two teams in the field with .500 or better records so far this young season.
Series Notes
•   The Redhawks are a combined 19-15 against teams participating in the Frost Classic.
•   Southeast Missouri is 1-4 vs. Illinois State, 0-3 vs. IU Indy (formerly IUPUI), 1-0 vs. Lamar, 16-6 vs. Indiana State and 1-2 vs. Chattanooga.
•   Mark Redburn is 2-0 all-time vs. IU Indy, 11-7 vs. Indiana State, 1-2 vs. Chattanooga and 3-10 vs. Illinois State in his head coaching       career. This year will mark the first time Redburn faces Lamar as a head coach.
Redhawks Finish Season-Opening Cardinal Clash Strong
•   The Redhawks recorded back-to-back wins over Southwestern Athletic Conference member Alabama State for a strong finish at their season-opening Troy University Cardinal Clash Tournament.
•   Southeast Missouri had early season-highs of 14 runs and 15 hits to pick up its first win of the year with a 14-3 victory over the Hornets on Feb. 14.
•   A day later, SEMO closed out the tournament with a 5-3 win over Alabama State.
•   The victories gave the Redhawks their first winning streak of the 2025 campaign.
Tournament Play
•   Southeast Missouri plays its first 14 games of the season outside of Cape Girardeau across three different tournaments.Â
•   After this weekend's Frost Classic (Feb. 21-23), the Redhawks then travel to Monroe, Louisiana for five more contests at the Best on the Bayou Tournament (Feb. 28-Mar. 2).
•   SEMO will not be at home until it starts Ohio Valley Conference play on Mar. 8-9.
Big Start for Gerwitz
•   Center fielder Tatum Gerwitz kicked off her 2025 season by hitting .700 at the Troy University Cardinal Clash (Feb. 13-15).
•   Gerwitz went 7-for-10 at the plate with four runs scored, a double, one RBI, four walks and three stolen bases in four starts.
•   She opened the season with multiple hits in each of her first three starts and hit safely in all four contests.
•   Gerwitz is fifth in the nation in batting average through her first four games.
New Career-High for Saysoff
•   Infielder Brooklyn Saysoff established a new career-high with four hits vs. Alabama State (Feb. 14).
•   Saysoff went 4-for-5 with a stolen base, two runs scored and two RBI.
•   She finished the Troy University Cardinal Clash with a combined six hits in her last two games.
Nice Work by the Bullpen
•   After Alabama State cut Southeast Missouri's lead to 5-3 on Feb. 15, Redhawk relievers took over and did not allow a run the rest of the way.
•   SEMO's bullpen threw four shutout innings to hold off the Hornets.
•   Tegan Livesay tossed three scorless no-hit innings with four strikeouts and Delaney Kell followed that up with one scoreless inning and two strikeouts.
•   Kell claimed her first save of the season following that performance.
SEMO Debuts
•   Madison Winkler, Elliott Stinson and Addisyn Martinie made their Southeast Missouri debuts at the Troy University Cardinal Clash (Feb. 13-15).
•   Winkler, a transfer from Louisville, started all four games in right field and hit .308 with three runs scored, two walks and three stolen bases. She made all of her starts in right field.
•   A transfer from Southern Illinois, Stinson picked up a win in her first career SEMO start inside the circle.
•   Stinson tossed 4.2 innings allowing two runs on three hits and striking out three.
•   Meanwhile, freshman Addisyn Martinie got her first career hit against Alabama State (Feb. 14).
Melton's Senior Year Off to a Good Start
•   Senior Sydney Melton hit .364 with four hits, four runs scored, three doubles, four RBI and two walks in four starts at the Troy University Cardinal Clash (Feb. 13-15).
•   Melton led the Redhawks with three doubles for the tournament.
•   She was one of four starters who hit .300 or better during SEMO's season-opening tournament.
•   Her .364 clip was third behind Tatum Gerwitz (.700) and Brooklyn Saysoff (.429).
Off and Running
•   Southeast Missouri went 9-of-11 in stolen bases over its first four games of the season at the Troy University Cardinal Clash (Feb. 13-15).
•   Tatum Geritz and Madison Winkler each went 3-of-3, while Brooklyn Saysoff followed at 2-of-2 on the basepaths.
•   SEMO ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference and 27th in the nation with 2.25 stolen bases per game thus far.
