Box Score

Columbia, Mo. - Southeast Missouri Tennis (5-7) battles hard but ultimately falls 4-0 against the University of Missouri (7-1) Saturday night at the Green Tennis Center.

The afternoon started off with Mizzou capturing the doubles point in two matches.

Inah Canete and Korina Roso swept Maja Bajorek and Mia Mayerová 6-0 at the No. 1 position. To clinch the doubles point, Mizzou's Lailaa Bashir and Zoe Lazar defeated Lera Valeeva and Kristina Kozakova on court two in a hard fought 6-4 match.

The pair of Juliette Demunck and Yontha Tadoum went unfinished at No. 3 3-5 against Andrea Artimedi and Mary Brumfield.

In singles action the Tigers captured their three points in straight sets on courts two, four, and six.

Mia Mayerova fell in straight sets on court four 6-1, 6-1 against Gian Octa. Missouri captured their third point at the number two position when Bashir defeated Bajorek 6-1, 6-3. To clinch the match, Claudia Casas lost 6-0, 6-0 against Roso on court six.

Demunck, Tadoum, and Kozakova went unfinished during their singles matches. Kozakova went unfinished on court five down 1-0 in the second set and lost set 1 6-3 against Artimedi.

Tadoum and Demunck were on their way to victory on court one and three before they went unfinished. Demunck started out on fire against Lazar, she could not keep up and Demunck took the first set 6-3. In the second set, Lazar took advantage and won 6-3. The third set was tied 2-2 and then Demunck started to take over and was winning 5-2 before the match got called.

At the No. 1 position Tadoum didn't start out as hot and fell 6-3 against Brumfield in set 1. Tadoum then fought back and didn't give Brumfield any opportunities in the second and tied the match 1-1 with a 6-3 set 2 win. Like her teammate Demunck, the third set started out close for Tadoum but she quickly started to take over and was up 5-2 before going unfinished.

Coach Steve Brooks was very pleased with how his team performed at thought the team fought really hard. He had this to say about tonight's match, "It was an exicting match. We are very banged up right now. I am very happy for Yontha and Juliette but also disappointed since they didn't get to finish their matches. They were both up 5-2 in the third set! Yontha was going to get her first SEC win, and it was at #1! Juliette's opponet knew Claudia was almost done so she started moving slow trying to stall. Claudia was also trying to take lots of time so Yontha and Juliette could get their wins."

Even thought they didn't get to get their wins the coach was very proud of his team overall stating, "Overall all of the Redhawks fought and competed well, no matter what the score ended up being. One day better!"

The Redhawks will be back on the road again as they travel to Tennessee next Friday to face UT Southern at 10 a.m., CT.
