Redhawks Face Arkansas State and Missouri This Weekend
Southeast Missouri continues their road stretch traveling to State University on Friday the 15 to face Arkansas State at the A-State Tennis complex. The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m., CT. The Redhawks will then trek to Cloumbia, Mo. to face Missouri on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 3:30 p.m., CT. 

About Arkansas State
Arkansas State comes into this matchup with a 5-3 record, beating Butler 4-3 in their last match. The Red Wolves finished 8-15 last year with a 2-9 conference record, losing in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference championship 4-3 to Southern Miss. A-State is led by sophomore Anna Grigoreva who has a 5-3 record in singles at No. 1. The Red Wolves are also supported by the efforts of freshman Lilly Cvanciger who also holds a 5-3 singles record, with all five wins coming at No. 2. Another notable performer is freshman Carla Muro Castellvi, who has won 6 of 7 singles matches this season with wins coming at both No. 4 and No. 5.

About Missouri
Missouri comes into this weekend with a 5-1 record. The Tigers have put up strong performances in their last two matches, winning 4-0 against Colorado State and 7-0 against St. Thomas. Mizzou had a 5-22 record last year, going 0-13 in conference play and losing in the first round of the SEC tournament to Alabama 4-0. This year in the SEC preseason coaches poll the Tigers were predicted to finish last in the conference. Senior Inah Canete leads the Tigers with a 3-1 singles (2-0 at No. 1) record and a 4-0 doubles record (all coming at No. 1), playing with freshman Korina Roso for all four games. Last season while competing with sister Mae Canete, Inah was ranked as high as 16th in the ITA Doubles Ranking. Freshman Gian Octa is also a notable performer going 5-1 in singles play and 1-0 in doubles play.

Series History 
The Redhawks have matched up against the Red Wolves 23 times, with the Red Wolves winning 17 of those meetings. Their most recent meeting happened in the last spring season, which saw the Redhawks come out on top, beating Arkansas State 4-2 in Cape Girardeau. SEMO has dominated A-State as of late winning the last four matchups against the Red Wolves. 

The Redhawks have faced the Tigers on 16 occasions, with the Tigers coming out on top in 13 of the matches. The two teams last faced off in 2023 where Mizzou won 7-0. 

Redhawk Leaders
Sophomore's Maja Bajorek and Juliette Demuck lead the Redhawks so far in this young season. Bajorek and Demunck both have the most singles wins with six so far this season. Bajorek has two wins at No. 2, three wins at No. 3, and one win at No. 4. Demunck has captured the bulk of her wins at No. 3 (4-0) and she has two wins at No. 4. 

Weekend Four Recap
Over the last weekend the Redhawks got back to .500 (5-5) winning against Lincoln Memorial 5-2, the University of the Cumberlands 4-1, and Carson Newman 4-1.

Against Lincoln Memorial, the Railsplitters captured the doubles point. SEMO then dominated singles action, winning five out of the six singles matches. Juliette Demunck captured the first point for the Redhawks on court three winning 6-3, 6-1 against Carla Ramonet. Tadoum finished right after Demunck, beating Mann-Ning Li 6-3, 6-1 at position No. 4. Bajorek beat Adriana Pellizzari 6-3 in both sets at position No. 2. Kozakova cruised past Mar Garcia Bucosa 6-4, 6-3 and Mia Mayerová finished up the Redhawks day defeating Lucie Palud 6-4, 7-5.

Verse the University of the Cumberlands, the Redhawks clinched the doubles point. Bajorek and Mayerová took care of business and rolled past Karen Kondo and Victoria Zarate 6-3 on court two. Lera Valeeva and Kristina Kozakova captured the doubles point beating Rita Liu and Mahira Hara at the No. 1 position 6-2. In singles action, Yontha Tadoum, Demunck, and Valeeva won three matches in a row to clinch the match.

To finish up the weekend, Carson Newman claimed the doubles. The Redhawks turned it on in singles action and won the next four clinching the match. Tadoum breezed past Leah McBride 6-4, 6-1 on court four. Bajorek also beat her opponent in straight sets, winning 7-5, 6-4 against Emma Sanchez at No. 2. At position No. 1, Valeeva fell 6-4, won 6-4, then closed out the third set and won 10-5. Demunck beat Hala Awad 6-7, 6-4, 10-6 on court three.
