Gymhawks Set to Host SEMO Tri-Meet Friday
Southeast Missouri Gymnastics will be in Cape Girardeau on Friday, February 14, to host the second home meet of the season. The 'SEMO Tri-Meet' will feature Mid-American Conference (MAC) member Northern Illinois and fellow Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) member Centenary on Friday evening. Competition is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m., CT. inside Houck Field House. 
 
Earlier This Season
Friday's meet will feature the second time that the Gymhawks have faced off against Centenary dating back to January 20 when they two met in Shreveport, La. at Centenary. SEMO won the Centenary Tri-Meet with a 192.325 team score, besting Centenary (185.325). Junior Taylor Ingle won the all-around in that meet with a 38.225. 
 
The matchup with NIU marks the first one this season. SEMO has faced off against three MAC schools already this season, making the Huskies the fourth team from the MAC to compete against the Gymhawks. SEMO is 0-5 against MAC schools in 2025. 
 
Last Time Out
The Redhawks were last in action at the Central Michigan (MAC) Tri-Meet where they finished second with an overall score of 193.025. The Gymhawks bested Wisconsin-Oshkosh who finished with a 192.375. CMU won the meet with a 196.000. Taylor Ingle finished with another top three placement in the all-around. She recorded a 38.875 to take second place in the all-around. 
Beam Success
Most recently, the Gymhawks finished with a 48.375 on the beam at the CMU Tri-Meet marking their best rotation score of the night last Thursday. Newcomer Jaidan Kossuth led the way on the rotation, finishing with a 9.775. Leah Parton recorded a 9.675 for the third highest score, while Taylor Ingle finished second for the Gymhawks with a 9.725. 
 
Napolitano Returns
Sophomore Jordan Napolitano has returned to the Gymhawks rotation(s) after missing the beginning of the season. She has now competed in three-straight meets on the vault for SEMO and made her season debut on the beam last Thursday night. Napolitano has recorded two 9.675s on the vault for her season best and scored a 9.550 on the beam at Central Michigan. 
 
The Rankings
Going into Friday's tri-meet, the Gymhawks currently rank 60th in the nation according to Road To Nationals. SEMO checks in with their highest ranking coming on the vault (54th), followed by bars (60th), floor (62nd), and beam (67th). The Gymhawks highest score of the season came in its last home meet versus Illinois State with a 193.750. 
 
Freshman Bars
Freshman Gracie Jones has competed in three-straight meets in the bars lineup for the Gymhawks beginning at the Bowling Green Tri-Meet (1/26). Her first collegiate score was a 9.575 in her first action before shattering that with a 9.775 in the first home meet of the season against Illinois State. Most recently, Jones recorded a 9.600 at Central Michigan marking her second highest score this year. 
 
Kuehn the Dream
Junior Ailey Kuehn has had a solid two week stretch on the beam for the Gymhawks most recently turning in a 9.700 at the CMU Tri-Meet. The score marked the second-straight week that Kuehn has recorded a 9.700 or better on the beam rotation. She set her season-high in Cape Girardeau with a 9.725 against Illinois State (1/31). 
 
Five Straight
Jaidan Kossuth, who is in her first season with the Gymhawks, has been a beam specialist all season for SEMO. Most recently, she recorded a 9.775 at the CMU Tri-Meet marking the fifth-straight score of 9.700 or higher. On the season, Kossuth has a season-high 9.850 against Illinois State (1/31). 
 
Ava Johnston
After missing the beginning of the season, sophomore Ava Johnston has been a staple in the bars lineup for the Gymhawks. The 2024 All-MIC 2nd Team Bars selection, Johnston has now competed in five-straight meets on bars. Most recently she recorded a 9.725 at the CMU Tri-Meet and has scored 9.700 or higher in four-of-the-five meets she has competed in.
