Gymnastics Hires Kaitlin De Guzman as Assistant Coach

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri hired Kaitlin De Guzman an assistant gymnastics coach Friday.
De Guzman comes to SEMO after living in Texas. She competed at the University of Kentucky from 2020-23 before transferring to Clemson University for her final season in 2024. At Clemson she earned All-ACC honors in the uneven bars. In the uneven bars event she won three event titles in her final season at Clemson and set the Clemson record in the event scoring a 9.925 against Air Force (3/8). In her final season at Kentucky, she also scored a 9.925 on the bars against Auburn along with at the SEC Champoionships.
"I am excited to welcome Kaitlin to the family," said Head Coach Ashley Lawson. "She brings a wealth of knowledge to our program coming from her college and club experiences. The grounding she had at the highest levels of gymnastics plus her commitment to excellence in the classroom make her an outstanding role model to our team."
While at Kentucky, De Guzman earned the Frank G. Ham Society of Character Award for demonstrating a profound commitment to academic excellence, athletic participation, personal development, community service, and career preparation along with being named to the WCGA All-America Scholar Athlete Team.
Since graduating she has worked at Bliss Speech and Hearing Services while also coaching gymnastics at Life Time Inc. in Allen, Texas.
De Guzman graduated from Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and also earned her Master of Science in Sport Leadership.
