PADUCAH, Ken. - Southeast Missouri Tennis (1-5) falls 4-0 to Louisiana Tech (5-2) at the Rowton Paul Indoor Tennis center Friday afternoon.
During doubles play the point was once again decided by the No. 1's. Louisiana Tech clinched the doubles point with a close victory on court 1.
Maja Bajorek teamed up with Mia Mayerova and could not be stopped on court two. The pair cruised to an easy 6-1 win over Alice Brook and Mari Tsironi. SEMO's No. 3 pair of Juliette Demunck and Claudia Casas fell 6-3 to Mio Kozaki and Nina Skoric, tying the doubles match 1-1.
Lera Valeeva and Kristina Kozakova stayed ahead by one through the beginning of the match, 2-1, 3-2, 4-3. Louisiana Tech's No. 1 pair of Ana Rodrigues and Zoie Epps then had a couple of holds and slams and jumped out to a 5-4 lead. Rodrigues and Epps would finish the match off and clinch the doubles point for the Bulldogs winning 6-4.
In singles play Louisiana Tech won in straight sets. Demunck fell in straight sets to Epps at the No. 2 position losing 6-2, 6-0. Brook defeated Casas winning 6-1 in set 1 and 6-0 in set 2.
The Bulldogs captured their fourth and game clinching point when Tsironi beat Bajorek 6-3, 6-1.
Mayerova was the only Redhawk to win a set for the Redhawks. Mayerova won 7-6 in the first set then was tied 2-2 in the second before the match went unfinished. Valeeva and Kozakova also went unfinished on court 1 and 5. Valeeva lost the first set 6-3 and was tied 4-4 in set 2. Kozakova lost set 1 6-1 and was down 5-0 in the second.
The Redhawks will end their three-game Paducah trip tomorrow as they will be back in the Rowton Paul Indoor Tennis Center to face Austin Peay at 2 p.m. CT.
