
Redhawks Head to Columbia for the Show Me Showdown

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri track & field will travel to Columbia, Missouri for the Show Me Showdown Friday, Jan. 17th.
The field events begin at 9:30 a.m. CT, with the men's weight throw with the last field event scheduled for 3:30 p.m. with the women's shot put.
The running events are slated for 1:55 p.m. with the men's 60m hurdles. The last event is scheduled for 4:55 p.m with the women's 4x400m relay.
Records Broken
In the very first meet of the season Anna Thomason took home the gold medal in the pentathlon with 3643 total points breaking the previous record of 3580 set last year by Kaitlyn McGinnitey.
Nick Cimmarusti crossed the line at 8:33.92 to break the SEMO Student Recreation center 3000m record at the Redhawks Invite. The record was previously held by Nick Happe of Arizona State with a time of 8:38:00.
Where We Rank
At the end of the indoor track season the top 16 performers from each event make it to the NCAA Indoor Championship. The sport is broken up into nine regions, SEMO is in the Midwest Region which includes all the Division One schools from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.
Southeast has 17 marks ranked in the top 50 of the country, 14 marks ranked first in the OVC and 46 marks in the top five in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Breanna Miles ranks 26th in the nation and first in the OVC in the 200 meter crossing the line at 24.20. Miles achieved this time at Indiana Early Bird Meet, Dec. 13th.
Clara Billing vaulted over a height of 12' 11.5" to rank 42nd in the nation and first in the OVC. The junior achieved this mark Dec.13th at the Indiana Early Bird Meet.
Kenyon Johnson ranks 25th (24' 4.25") and 13th (50' 8.25", 1st in OVC) in the long jump and triple jump in the NCAA, achieving these marks at the Redhawks Invite and Indiana Early Bird Meet.
Paden Lewis threw for distances of 59' 6.75" and 71' 4" in the shot put and weight throw to rank 25th and ninth in the NCAA and first in the OVC in both events. The senior achieved these marks at the Redhawks Invite and Indiana Early Bird Meet.

In the men's and women's 55m Dominic Revels ranks seventh (6.32), Cole Bruenderman 21st (6.46), Miles 12th (7.18), and Sydney Burdine ranks 43rd (7.39) in the NCAA. They all achieved this at the Redhawks Invite, Jan. 11th.
In the men's and women's 55m hurdles Marcus Gordon ranks 20th (7.82), Luis Schadlich ranks 27th (7.97), Thomason ranks fourth (8.13), Brianna Dixon ranks seventh (8.22), Megan Aubuchon ranks 21st (8.57), and Billing ranks 23rd (8.59). They all achieved this Jan. 11th at the Redhawks Invite.
Miles ranks 1st in the conference in the 60m, crossing the line at 7.60.
Burdine is ranked first in the Ohio Valley in the 400m with a time of 56.69.
Erika Mellor has a time of 2:17.17 in the 800-meter to be ranked first in the OVC.
With a time of 8:25.65 Nick Cimmarusti ranks first in the 3000m in the conference.
Thomason also has a time of 8.62 in the 60m hurdles, ranking first in the OVC.
Molly Grohmann cleared a height of 5' 7" to be ranked first in the conference in the high jump.
After vaulting over a height of 16' 4.75" Sullivan Gleason ranks first in the OVC in the pole vault.
Baylee Beard threw for a mark of 57' 4.75" to rank first in the OVC in the weight throw.
Athletes of the Week
Cimmarusti was awarded with OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week after breaking the SEMO Rec Center 3000m record with a time of 8:33.92. The senior bested nine other runners to rank first in the OVC in the 3000m.
Burdine tabbed OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this season. She placed first in the 200m and 55m with times of 25.93 and 7.84. The sprinter edged out nine and ten other athletes in the events. Her 200m time ranks 8th in OVC and her 55m time ranks 43rd in the NCAA.
Lewis claimed OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after finishing ahead of 19 and 20 other athletes for first in the weight throw and shot put. The senior achieved a mark of 69' 2.5" in the weight throw for fourth in SEMO Records and second in the OVC and a distance of 59' 6.75" in the shot put for fifth in SEMO records and first in the OVC and 25th in the NCAA.
Beard notched OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week. The transfer from Central Methodist won the weight throw ( 57' 4.75") and the shot put (43' 7.75") events. The junior weight throw mark was a new PR and ranks first in the OVC and the shot put mark ranks second in conference.
The freshman Revels claimed OVC Male Freshman of the Week for his performance at the Redhawks Invite. In the 55m he crossed the line at 6.47 for second place, with the time ranking second in the country. In the 200m he clocked a time of 23.87 for fourth out of 16 athletes.
Last Time Out
The Redhawks hosted the Redhawks invite, ending with 21 first place finishes, 51 podium finishes and eight new personal bests.
Baylee Beard achieved two gold medals with marks of 57' 4.75" (PR) and 43' 7.75" in the weight throw and shot put.
After the pole vault was over Colin Beers and Sullivan Gleason tied for first with a jump of 15' 7".
Anna Thomason recorded a mark of 18' 10.5" for a new PR in the women's long jump for gold.
Paden Lewis chalked up gold medal marks of 69' 2.5" in the men's weight throw and 59' 6.75" in the shot put.
Clara Billing vaulted over a height of 12' 5.5" to chalk up a first place finish in the women's pole vault.

Sydney Burdine clocked times of 7.40 and 26.34 in the 55m dash and 200m to take first in both events.
In the men's and women's 55m hurdle race Marcus Gordon (7.82) and Thomason (8.13, NEW PR) both finished second to none.
With a cleared height of 6' 10.75" Luke Hatfield Jackson finished in first in the high jump.

Looking Ahead
Southeast Missouri track and field will head to Indianapolis next week for the Crossroads of America Invite Jan 24-25.
The field events begin at 9:30 a.m. CT, with the men's weight throw with the last field event scheduled for 3:30 p.m. with the women's shot put.
