2024 Volleyball Schedule Announced Ahead of 50th Season

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The 2024 Southeast Missouri Volleyball regular season schedule has been released; the program announced on Monday.  The 2024 season marks the 50th season of Southeast Missouri Volleyball. 
 
The Redhawks will play four non-conference tournaments to begin the 2024 campaign, the 14th year of head coach Julie Yankus' tenure at Southeast. To purchase single-game and season tickets, click here. For gameday promotion(s) information, click here.
 
The Schedule
SEMO Volleyball will begin its season in Jonesboro, Ark. In the Arkansas State Tournament. The Redhawks will begin on Friday, August 30, against the host, Arkansas State before concluding Friday with a matchup against Saint Louis. 
 
The tournament will conclude on Saturday with a match against Southeastern Conference opponent, Ole Miss, the first of two matches against SEC opponents on the schedule. 
 
Following opening weekend, SEMO will hit the road to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to compete in a tournament hosted by Middle Tennessee State. The Redhawks will commence the tournament on Friday, September 6, against former Ohio Valley Conference member, Austin Peay, at 1 p.m.
 
The second match of the day will see SEMO face the host, MTSU, at 7 p.m. SEMO will conclude the tournament on Saturday against Lehigh. 
 
The third non-conference tournament will take place in Mount Pleasant, Mich. where the Redhawks will take on Green Bay in the first match of the two-day event. SEMO will face the host, Central Michigan, on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. 
 
SEMO will wrap-up the CMU Tournament with a match against a familiar foe, former OVC-member Eastern Kentucky, at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 14. 
 
The fourth and final tune up will take place just across the border in Carbondale, Ill. when the Redhawks will take on a pair of local rivals from the Missouri Valley Conference beginning with Missouri State. The match against the Bears will take place at 12 p.m. in Carbondale on Friday, September 20. 
 
SEMO will take on Southern Illinois at 12 p.m. the next day, ahead of the Redhawks and Salukis 'War for the Wheel' football game in Carbondale on the same day. 
 
Southern Indiana will be the first Ohio Valley Conference foe for the Redhawks and will begin conference play in 2024. Over her tenure, Coach Yankus has compiled a 127-91 OVC record in 13 seasons. 
 
SEMO will play its first home match(es) of the season, beginning on a Tuesday, Oct. 2, when they host Little Rock. On the weekend, the Redhawks will welcome in Tennessee State which will conclude a three-match homestand. 
 
A brief pause in OVC play will see the Redhawks travel to Missouri, the second SEC member on the 2024 schedule, to take on the Tigers on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The match with Missouri will be the first matchup between the two schools since September 21, 2013. The Tigers hold an 8-3 record overall against SEMO. 
 
After a week off following the non-conference matchup, SEMO will return to OVC play on the road at Morehead State. SEMO will battle the Eagles on Friday & Saturday, October 18-19 in Morehead, Ky. 
 
SEMO will return home to take on Eastern Illinois on Alumni Weekend. The Redhawks and Panthers will battle on October 24 & 25 at Houck Field House. 
 
A return trip to Little Rock, Ark. Will be next for the Redhawks on Tuesday, Oct. 29, before returning to Cape Girardeau for a weekend matchup with Tennessee Tech (Nov. 1-2). 
 
Back-to-back road trips to Martin, Tenn. and St. Charles, Mo. to take on UT Martin and Lindenwood, respectively, will be the final road trip(s) of the 2024 season for the Redhawks. SEMO will take on the Skyhawks Nov. 8-9 with the Lions on Nov. 14-15. 
 
The final regular season matchup will take place in Cape Girardeau when SIUE comes to town on Tuesday & Wednesday, Nov. 19 & 20 in preparation for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. 
 
The conference tournament will take place on Nov. 24-26 with the location determined by the regular season champion. SEMO has made the conference tournament in 12-of-13 seasons under Coach Yankus.
