Baseball Drops Game One of the Series, 8-2, at Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Southeast Missouri Baseball (14-16, 5-2 OVC) fell in game one of the series with Little Rock (16-14, 5-2 OVC) by a final score of 8-2 on Friday night from Gary Hogan Field.

The Redhawks finished with two runs, on 6 hits, and left four on-base as the loss recorded the first loss on the road in OVC play. Six different Redhawks recorded a hit as each had just one hit.

Short stop Ben Palmer and left fielder Ty Stauss each recorded an RBI for the Redhawks two runs.

Left fielder Ty Stauss hit his fifth home run of the season to get the Redhawks on the board in the second inning. His blast followed a five-run first inning from Little Rock and made the score 5-1 Trojans.

In the bottom of the first inning, Little Rock used a home run, a triple, a double, and a pair of singles plated five runs in the first inning off LHP Haden Dow. Dow finished his outing in 4.1 innings allowing five runs on eight hits. He struck out four in his outing.

Palmer homered in the ninth inning to score the second run of the game for the Redhawks, his team-high 10thblast, but that was all that SEMO could find offensively.

RHP Gavin Johnston pitched the final 3.2 innings of the game as he struck out a season-high five strikeouts and allowed just an earned run on four hits.
