Redhawks Take on the Ole Miss Open Friday and Saturday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri track and field will head to Oxford, Miss. to compete at the Ole Miss Open March 22-23. The event will take place at the Ole Miss track and field complex.
On Friday the field events begin at 12:00 p.m and the men's and women's 200m and steeplechase are the running events that will take place on the 22nd starting at 6:00 p.m.
The Women's high jump begins the field events on Saturday at 11:00 p.m and the running events are scheduled for 1:00 p.m with the 4x100 relay.
The weekend will feature 15 schools with 29 total teams with 552 total athletes with 785 total entries.
Last Time Out
At the Richard Martin event the redhawks registered 10 first place finishes and 40 top five performances.
Paden Lewis placed first in the discus throw, throwing for a distance of 171' 8". The Junior also threw for a mark of 55' 3.5" to win the shot put.
Alivia Busch threw for a mark 147' 3" to stand alone atop the podium in the women's discus.
Anna Thomason grabbed the gold in the women's 100-meter hurdle race (14.03, NEW PR).
In the women's 100-meter Breanna Miles finished with a time of 11.75 to place first in the event. The senior also ran for a 200-meter time of 23.91 to claim first.
Tanner Koontz vaulted over a height of 15' 10.5" to claim the top spot on the podium in the PV.
Parker Feuerborn took the top spot on the podium and a new personal record with a 235' 1" mark in the hammer throw.
Graduate student Jaden Kight achieved a new personal best mark of 152' 4" (1st) in the Javelin.
Shea DeGraaf claimed gold in the women's javelin with a PR throw of 204' 4".
Weekly Award Winners
Paden Lewis was awarded with OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week for the first time as a Redhawk. The junior placed first in the discus throw (171' 8") and the shot put (55' 3.5") while throwing for a mark of 193' 1" in the hammer throw (4th).
Alivia Busch also notched her first OVC award when she claimed OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week honors. The graduate student threw for marks of 158' 2" (4th) in the hammer throw, 147' 3" (1st) in the discus, and 44' 9.5" (3rd) in the shot put.
Breanna Miles picked up OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week honors after finishing first both the 100m and 200m with a times of 11.75 and 23.91.
Where We Rank.
For each individual event the top 48 performances will be accepted into the NCAA regional. For each relay event, the top 24 relay teams will be accepted into the competition. The top 24 performances in the combined events (Heptathlon and Decathlon) are accepted directly into the Championships.
The sport is broken up into nine regions, SEMO is in the Midwest Region which includes all the Division One schools from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.
Southeast Missouri has 11 athletes ranked in the top 50 of the country.
