Volleyball Announces Three Signees for 2024

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri Volleyball has secured the signing of three new transfers for the Fall of 2024, the program announced Wednesday afternoon.
 

Rightside hitter Abby Johnson, libero Abbey Richman, and setter Alandry Below will all join the Redhawks this upcoming season. 
 
Abby Johnson
A 6-5 rightside hitter, Abby Johnson comes to Southeast Missouri as a graduate student after spending the last four seasons at Bradley University in the Missouri Valley Conference. 
 
A native of Aviston, Ill., Johnson was a Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll selection in both the Fall & Spring of 2021 and 2022. 
 
Last season, Johnson played in 28 matches and 92 sets for the Braves. She averaged 1.96 kills-per-set including a season-high 18 against Murray State (10/13/23). She totaled 666 kills in her four season as a Brave and accumulated a career .171 hitting-percentage. 
 
On the defensive side of the net, Johnson registered 58 total blocks (52 block assists, six solo) for a .63 block-per-set ratio. She accounted for 212 points in her senior campaign and finished with 778.5 points in her career. 
 
Johnson is the tallest player on record in Bradley Volleyball history. 
 
Abbey Richman
Libero Abbey Richman spent the first four seasons as a part of Southern Conference-member Wofford where she played in 99 matches and 349 sets as a Terrier. 
 
Richman, from Carmel, Ind., led the Terriers with 389 digs in 2022 which was seventh in the SoCon. She surpassed that mark in 2023, totaling 428 digs a season ago (2023) for a 3.89 dig-per-set ratio, the second highest of her career. 
 
Her 428 digs were a career-best and included a season-high 23 digs on October 7 against The Citadel. 
 
Offensively, Richman dished out 218 assists in her four years at Wofford including a career-high 79 during her senior campaign. She also registered 79 service aces during her Terrier career, a 0.23 service ace-per-set mark. 
 
She was a member of the 2020-21 and 2022-23 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and was the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week in 2021. 
 
Alandry Below
A native of nearby Advance, Mo., Alandry Below comes to Southeast Missouri by way of Mineral Area College where she spent the last season as the setter for the Cardinals. 
 
In two seasons at Mineral Area, Below dished out a staggering 1,888 assists including a career-best 1,045 her freshman season (22-23) in just 64 matches. 
 
She averaged 8.47 assists-per-set for her career at Mineral Area, including a career-high 9.59 APS in the 22-23 season. 

Below accounted for 220.5 points over her two seasons and registered 115.5 points her sophomore season (23-24). 
 
On the defensive side, Below accumulated 701 digs in two seasons and finished her career with a 3.14 digs-per-set mark. She was also active at the net, registering 41 total blocks
