SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (3-6) dropped a close 3-4 match to in-state foe Missouri State Sunday.
SEMO claimed the doubles point with wins at the top two spots in its lineup. At No. 1,
Daniela Hlacikova and
Juliette Talieu coasted to a 6-1 victory and Trinity Calinescu and
Vivian Lai winning, 6-4, at No. 2.
In singles play, Talieu and Hlacikova continued their winning ways. Talieu swept Tuana Gunai in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 3 and Hlacikova beat Mary Houston, 6-2, 2-6, 6-0, at No. 2.
The Bears, however, prevailed at the No. 1, No. 5 and No. 4 singles spots to edge the Redhawks. Juliette Robinson came from behind to beat
Vivian Lai in three sets at No. 4.
SEMO returns to action for its first two home matches when it welcomes Bradley on Mar. 2 and Arkansas State on Mar. 3.
