Redhawks Travel to Little Rock Tuesday for Midweek Matchup
Southeast Missouri Volleyball (11-10, 8-1 OVC) will continue Ohio Valley Conference play on Tuesday, October 29, for a midweek match with Little Rock (14-10, 9-2 OVC) in a battle of second and third place in the league. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. from the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock, Ark. 
 
Series History
The Redhawks and Trojans will meet for the sixth time on Tuesday night as Little Rock is one of the newest members of the Ohio Valley Conference, joining in 2022. After defeating LR earlier this season (3-1, Oct. 2), SEMO now leads the overall series 4-1. LR's only win against SEMO came on October 18, 2022, in a 3-2 win in Little Rock. The last time SEMO traveled to Little Rock, the Redhawks handled LR in straight sets in 2023. 
 
Last Time Out
SEMO Volleyball dominated last weekend against Eastern Illinois sweeping the Panthers in six sets to win their seventh OVC match in a row. The Redhawks hosted alumni weekend for the series with EIU, beginning on Thursday night victory by scores of 25-20, 25-23, and 25-19. 
 
The Redhawks outhit the Panthers by a .212 to .155 advantage led by sophomore Lucy Arndt with 11 kills. Abby Johnson and Ramiri Gardner followed behind chipping in eight kills each. Co-Defensive Player of the Week in the OVC Nina Schuberth finished with 24 digs to lead the SEMO defense. 

Friday's match was much of the same as the Redhawks dominated EIU by scores of 25-23, 25-18, and 25-17 led by Arndt who finished with a season-high 21 kills on 58 attacks for a .310 hitting percentage. 

SEMO hit north of .300 with a .303 hitting advantage over Eastern Illinois (.155) in the series finale. 
 
Season-High
Sophomore Lucy Arndt was on fire this past weekend against Eastern Illinois. In Friday's match, Arndt finished with a season-high 21 kills against the Panthers. She hit at a .310 percentage as the Redhawks swept EIU. 
 
Just Keep Winning
The Redhawks entered OVC play with an overall record of 3-8 and split the opening series with Southern Indiana for a 1-1 record in league play (Sept. 28). Since then, SEMO has rattled off seven wins in a row in OVC play including wins at Morehead State (Oct. 18-19), Tennessee State (Oct. 4-5), and at home against Little Rock (Oct. 2) prior to last weekend's sweep of EIU. 
 
Big Tuesday
The Redhawks and Trojans meet on Tuesday night in the Natural Stste in what a pivotal matchup between two of the top team In the Ohio Valley Conference. SEMO enters the matchup with an 8-1 record and are tied for first place with Lindenwood (10-1). The Lions have played two extra league matches so far in 2024. Little Rock, coming off a sweep of Tennessee Tech, are in third place with a 9-2 overall league record. 
 
Arndt Rises
Lucy Arndt jumped all the way to sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference in total kills after last weekend's performance. Arndt, who is the reigning OVC Freshman of the Year, was in ninth place last week in the standings. After her 32-kill series with EIU, she now ranks sixth with 251 kills over 81 sets played. Madolyn Isringhausen of Tennessee Tech ranks first with 380 kills in 78 sets. 
 
The Setters
Freshman Megan Holder and graduate transfer Kennedey Johnson have cemented themselves as the Redhawks setters through nine games in OVC play. Holder, after dishing out 40 assists last week against EIU, has 438 assists on the season. She currently ranks seventh in the league in that category. Johnson, who has only played in 44 sets for the Redhawks in 2024, has dished out 171 including a four-match streak of double-digit assists. The duo has helped SEMO hit at a .195 average over the duration of the season. 
 
Scouting the Opponent
Little Rock
The Trojans come into Tuesday's matchup on fire, winning their last six matches including a sweep of Tennessee Tech this past weekend. LR took both matches by a final score of 3-1 in Cookeville. 
 
LR is led offensively by three Trojans who have more than 200 kills, led by Jaila Fullerton with 295. Kaila Harris and Bella Cherry have 228 and 227, respectively. 
 
The offense runs through a pair of setters in Dariana Valencia and Kaylee Smith who have accounted for 908 assists on the season. Valencia has 491 while Smith is close behind with 417. 
 
On the defensive side, three Trojans have 200 or more digs led by Andrea Roman with 446. Fullerton and Valencia have 299 and 262 digs, respectively. At the net, A'lanae Margaritha has 88 total blocks which ranks ninth in the OVC.
