
Mayerová Goes Undefeated in Singles Play During Day One of the UCA Fall Invitational

CONWAY, Ark. - Southeast Missouri ends day one of the UCA Fall Invitational with four total singles victories at the Conway Tennis Center in Conway, Arkansas. After day one, the Redhawks are 0-3 in doubles and 4-6 in singles. The Freshman Mia Mayerová was the only Redhawk to go undefeated in day one of singles action with two wins.
Maja Bajorek and Juliette Demunck were the only Redhawks to pick up a singles match win.
Doubles Play
The tournament started with doubles play with Lera Valeeva and Kristina Kozakova taking on Vimuktananda and Miyakawa from Central Arkansas. Valeeva and Kozakova fell 1-6.
Maja Bajorek and Mia Mayerová stayed partners and battled against Louisiana Tech's Kozaki and Brook. SEMO's pair lost 2-6.
Juliette Demunck teamed up with Abby Wise from Oral Roberts. Demunck and Wise kept it close but ultimately ended up falling to Frant from the University Memphis and Vigneron from Louisiana Tech 4-6.
Singles Action
Singles action started in the afternoon with Valeeva taking on Amendola from Memphis. Valeeva lost the first set 6-1, and then fell in the second set 6-3.
In the second round of doubles action Valeeva lost 6-0, 6-2 against Vimuktananda from Central Arkansas.
Demunck lost to Rodrigues from Louisiana Tech. Rodrigues barely edged out Demunck, winning 6-4 in the first and second sets. In the next singles round, Demunck beat Shigemasu from UCA in three sets. Demunck lost the first 7-5, won the second 6-2, and then won the tie break 12-10.
In the first round of singles, Kozakova fell to Frant from the University of Memphis 3-6 in the first, and 4-6 in the second set. Kozakova lost a three set thriller in the second round of singles against UCA's Miyakawa. Kozakova lost the first set 6-3, won the second 6-1, then lost the tie Break 10-2.
Bajorek took on Kozaki from Louisiana Tech in the first singles round. Bajorek lost the first set 6-2, and then bounced back in the second, winning 6-4. In the tie break Bajorek barely lost 10-7
Bajorek battled back in the second round and won 5-7, 6-3, 10-4 against Abby Wise from Oral Roberts.
Mayerová goes undefeated in singles during day one. In the first round, won against Louisiana Tech's Vigneron in three sets. Mayerová nearly won the first set but lost 7-6. In the second set she held Vigneron scoreless winning 6-0 and in the tiebreaker won 10-7.
In the second round, Mayerová won in straight sets and held Lasley from Hendrix to zero in both sets. Mayerová won 6-0 in both sets.
