Redhawks Travel to Big 10 Member Iowa on Sunday
After a week break, Southeast Missouri soccer (2-1-1) will travel to the Hawkeye State where they will face Big 10-member Iowa (3-0-0). Kickoff is slated for 10 a.m., CT. at the Iowa Soccer Complex in Iowa City, Iowa.Â

Sunday's match was originally slated to start at 1 p.m., but due to excessive heat projections in the Iowa City-area, the match was moved forward to 10 a.m.

Sunday's match will mark the third time the Redhawks and Hawkeyes have battled on the pitch with the last meeting coming back in 2021. Iowa took the match by a final score of 2-0 in Iowa City.Â

Natalie Jackson picked up the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced earlier this week. Â

Jackson, a graduate student from O'Fallon, Mo., helped SEMO's defense record back-to-back clean sheets beginning with Thursday's (8/24) match against Evansville (0-0) and Sunday's victory over Southern Illinois (2-0).Â

Natalie played in all 180 minutes of the contests and recorded a shot in Sunday's match as well.

Last Time Out
The Redhawks picked up their second victory of the season last Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 defeat of regional rival Southern Illinois in Carbondale.Â

Sophomore forward
Cayla Koerner registered her second goal of the season in the 54th minute of Sunday's match. Koerner cut inside a SIU defender and curled it into the top right corner of the goal with her right foot to beat SIU goalkeeper Chantelle Symes.Â

Koerner finished the match with 53 minutes of action which included four shots.Â

The Redhawks dominated offensively on Sunday, finishing the match with a 14-5 shots advantage over the Salukis.Â

SEMO registered half of their shots on goal while the SEMO defense did not surrender a shot-on-goal to SIU.Â

Freshman
Emily Baker recorded her second goal of the season in the 81st minute to give the Redhawks a much-needed insurance goal to secure the victory.Â

Baker took the pass from sophomore
Zoe Houston and slotted the ball into the bottom right of the goal to beat Symes once again to seal the deal.Â

For Houston, the assist was the first of her season.

Three Redhawks recorded a full-90-minute shift on Sunday as
Emma Brune,
Maddie Paulson, and
Natalie Jackson kept SEMO in control all day. Brune and Jackson fired three shots between the two, including a combined two on target.

Iowa is coming off a 2-1 victory over Iowa State where they registered 17 shots with five on target.

Junior forward Kenzie Roling was the first to score for Iowa off an assist from Shea Doherty. Elle Otto scored the second goal for Iowa in the 48th minute of the game. Otto notched three shots with two on goal during the game.
