CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's soccer has officially announced the 2023 regular season schedule, the program announced Monday morning.

Head Coach Heather Nelson begins her 25th season at the helm of the Redhawks as the only head coach in program history. She looks to build off of a strong 2022 season that ended in an 8-6-3 overall record, and a quarterfinals exit in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament.

The schedule features 17 matches, including an exhibition match at Illinois to begin the season on Sunday, August 6 at 5 p.m., CT.

The Redhawks will face the Missouri Tigers on Thursday, August 17, in Columbia, Mo. for the first official match on the schedule. The Tigers and Redhawks faced off last season, resulting in a 1-0 Tigers win. The match will begin at 7 p.m., CT.

SEMO will play a total of seven non-conference matches beginning with the Tigers, and concluding on Thursday, Sept. 14 against Columbia College in Cape Girardeau.

Matchups with Grambling State (8/20) and Evansville (8/24) round out the home non-conference schedule as the Redhawks will go on the road to face local rival Southern Illinois (8/27), Big 10 member Iowa (9/3), and Murray State (9/10).

Coach Nelson and the Redhawks will kick off Ohio Valley Conference play by traveling to the newest member of  the conference, Western Illinois, on Thursday, Sept. 21. The start time of the match is TBA.

The Redhawks and Leathernecks began their year against one another in an exhibition match that took place in Macomb, Ill.

SEMO's schedule features four home Ohio Valley Conference matches including Eastern Illinois (9/24), Little Rock (10/5), Tennessee Tech (10/15), and the final match of the regular season with UT Martin (10/22).

The Redhawks will travel to Lindenwood (9/28), SIUE (10/1), Morehead State (10/8), and Southern Indiana (10/19) to complete the conference road slate.
