Redhawks Blow By Southern Indiana, 7-0, Earn 13th Win in a Row

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Southeast Missouri (14-2, 4-0) made light work of Southern Indiana (4-13, 0-4) in a commanding 7-0 victory Friday afternoon at USI Tennis Courts.
 
SEMO pushed its program record winning streak to 13-consecutive victories in its final road matchup of the spring. The Redhawks also completed their eighth shutout in 16 matches this year.
 
Every member of SEMO's singles lineup won in straight sets after the Redhawks won all three matches in doubles competition.
 
Daniela Hlacikova beat Lauren Rowe at the top of SEMO's singles order with a 6-2, 6-4, win. Romana Tarajova defeated Rachel McCorkle, 6-0, 6-2, and Ksenia Shikanova won over Khandice Thomas, 6-3, 6-0, in the next two spots.
 
Vivian Lai took down Madison Windham, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4, Trinity Calinescu defeated Abby Myers, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5 and Teona Velkosa beat Elle Dewees, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6. Velkoska has now won 12-straight singles matches and Calinescu won 10 in a row.
 
Tarajova and Shikanova teamed up to defeat Rowe and Windham, 6-1, in No. 1 doubles. Hlacikova and Velkoska beat Myers and McCorkle, 6-1, at No. 2 and Lai and Calinescu swept doubles play with a 6-0 victory over Abby Brown and Elizabeth Cluck.
 
SEMO finished with an 8-1 record on the road this spring.
 
The Redhawks, who are tied for first in the Ohio Valley Conference with Eastern Illinois, host the Panthers in their final match of the regular season on Apr. 13.
