Box Score COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri (17-9, 10-1) completed a three-game sweep of Tennessee Tech (3-30, 0-9) with its third-straight run rule victory Sunday. The Redhawks blew out the Golden Eagles, 10-0, in five innings.
SEMO dominated TTU over the weekend, outscoring the Golden Eagles, 30-1. The Redhawks became the first team in the Ohio Valley Conference to reach 10 league victories this season.
Once again, the Redhawks picked apart the Golden Eagles from start to finish.
SEMO scored the first run of the game when
Aubrie Shore drew a bases loaded walk to score
Jillian Anderson in the top of the first inning.
The Redhawks followed that up with two more runs in the second and another two in the third.
Kat Sackett delivered a two-RBI single in the second, while
Zoe Schulte knocked in two runs in the third to extend SEMO's lead to 5-0.
A five-run fifth inning polished off SEMO's third OVC series sweep.
With two outs,
Brittany Affolter scored on an obstruction.
Sydney Dennis followed with a single and Schulte scored. The Redhawks then had runners at first and second following Anderson's base hit to short when
Paige Halliwill homered to left center. Halliwill's second home run of the season capped the victory.
Delaney Kell (8-3) went the distance allowing just three hits in five shutout innings. Kell struck out five and walked one, as well. She faced 19 hitters and retired eight of those on fly balls.
SEMO outhit TTU, 11-3.
Schulte paved the way going 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. Dennis followed with two hits and two runs scored, while six other Redhawks got a hit.
The Redhawks return to action when they host Morehead State prior to the Easter holiday. SEMO and MSU will open a three-game series with a doubleheader on Apr. 7.
