Series History
The all-time series between Southeast Missouri and Iowa State is tied at 3-3. These teams last played 15 years ago at the Mardi Gras Tournament in Monroe, Louisiana. ISU won that game by a score of 8-1. This year marks the first where SEMO faces the Cyclones in Ames.
Redhawks First in the OVC
Southeast Missouri is the Ohio Valley Conference leader with an overall record of 24-9 and 16-1 in conference play. SEMO initially took over sole possession of first in the standings following its sweep of Morehead State (Apr. 7-8). At the time, Southern Indiana took two of three from Eastern Illinois which helped the Redhawks get to first.
10-Game Winning Streak
The Redhawks carry a 10-game winning streak to Iowa State as the Ohio Valley Conferences's hottest team. Southeast Missouri is hitting .395 and has outscored its opponents, 79-10, during that current stretch. SEMO also outhit its foes, 100-39, in its previous 10 games. It is the Redhawks second 10-game winning streak in a season in three years.
OVC Winning Streak
The Redhawks are on a 13-game Ohio Valley Conference winning streak. Southeast Missouri's only conference loss came at Tennessee State in the first game of a doubleheader on Mar. 18. Since then, SEMO beat the Tigers in the nightcap and swept Southern Indiana (Mar. 25-26), Tennessee Tech (Apr. 1-2), Morehead State (Apr. 7-8) and Lindenwood (Apr. 15-16) in three games.
What a Run So Far
At 16-1, Southeast Missouri has its best Ohio Valley Conference record in 26 years. SEMO was last 16-1 during the 1997 season. The Redhawks best OVC start was in 1996 when they went undefeated through their first 20 league contests. SEMO has its best conference record through its first 17 OVC games of a season under Head Coach Mark Redburn.
Against the Big 12
The Redhawks are 6-12 all-time against Big 12 Conference schools. Southeast Missouri has faced Iowa State (3-3), Kansas (2-5), Oklahoma (0-1), Oklahoma State (0-2) and Texas Tech (1-1) out of the Big 12 in its softball history. SEMO last best a Big 12 opponent when it edged Kansas, 2-1, on Mar. 10, 2019 in Lawrence, Kansas.
Power 5 Matchups
Iowa State marks the second Power 5 foe Southeast Missouri faces this season. The Redhawks are 1-0 in such games after beating Ole Miss, 1-0, in Oxford, Mississippi on Mar. 5. In all, Head Coach Mark Redburn has a total of six wins against Power 5 schools at SEMO. Redburn has two wins against Kansas (Big 12), 1 win over Iowa (Big Ten) and three wins against the SEC (1 vs. Missouri, 1 vs. Arkansas, 1 vs. Ole Miss).
2,000th Win for SEMO Softball
Southeast Missouri picked up its 2,000th win in program history when it beat Morehead State, 1-0, on Apr. 8. SEMO's softball program has an all-time record of 2,004-873. A total of 844 of those wins have come at the NCAA Division I level.
Shore Gets First OVC Player of the Week Honor
First baseman Aubrie Shore was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Apr. 17. A native of Mahomet, Illinois, Shore had a big week leading SEMO to four more wins. She hit .667 with eight hits in 12 at-bats. Shore scored five runs, had three doubles and hit two home runs to go along with five RBI. She boasted a .733 on-base percentage and 1.417 slugging percentage, as well. Shore finished at 4-for-4 with three runs scored, four RBI, a double and two home runs in game two of the Redhawks series sweep of Lindenwood on Apr. 15. She had multiple hits in all three games of that series. Shore boosted her season batting average by 58 points from .305 to .363 during the Lindenwood series alone. It is the first OVC Player of the Week honor of Shore's career.
Big Advantage
The Redhawks outscored their opponents, 79-10, in their last 10 games combined. Southeast Missouri outscored Tennessee Tech, 30-1, in three games on Apr. 1-2. A week later, SEMO outscored Morehead State, 14-1, in three contests on Apr. 7-8. SEMO blanked Southern Illinois, 9-0, on Apr. 11. Most recently, the Redhawks outscored Lindenwood, 26-7, on Apr. 15-16. The Redhawks also posted five shuouts during that stretch.
Two-Home Run Games
For the second time this season, Aubrie Shore hit two home runs in a game. Shore homered twice at both Tennessee State (Mar. 18) and Lindenwood (Apr. 15). She leads Southeast Missouri with six home runs this year.
Season-High in Runs
Southeast Missouri scored a season-high 15 runs in its five-inning shutout of Lindenwood (Apr. 15). SEMO put up five runs in each of the second and fifth innings to key that win. It was the fifth time this season where the Redhawks scored 10 or more runs.
Run Rule Wins
Southeast Missouri won six of its last 10 games by way of the run rule. SEMO won those contests by eight or more runs in either five of six innings. The Redhawks have a total of seven run rule victories this year.
About Iowa State
Iowa State is last in the Big 12 Conference. ISU is just 1-7 at home this season with its only win vs. South Dakota State (8-1) on Apr. 11. The Cyclones are hitting just .226 and have a 4.07 ERA, both last in the Big 12. Mikayla Ramos is the only ISU player hitting over .300 (.304). The Cyclones have been outscored, 182-128, through 39 games.
Kell at 12 Wins
Delaney Kell is 12-3 as the Redhawks top pitcher in wins. Kell has started 13 of her team-high 20 appearances. She is 5-0 in the circle this month and ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference in victories.
Another Sweep
The Redhawks claimed their fifth series sweep of the season when they took all three games from Lindenwood (Apr. 15-16). Southeast Missouri also swept Morehead State (Apr. 7-8), Southern Indiana (Mar. 25-26), Tennessee Tech (Apr. 1-2) and SIU Edwardsville (Mar. 10-11). SEMO collected series sweeps against five of their first six conference opponents.
Home Winning Streak
Southeast Missouri has won 27 in a row at home. For the first time in program history, SEMO went undefeated at home when it finished the 2022 season at 14-0. The Redhawks were the only Ohio Valley Conference team unbeaten on their home diamond a year ago. SEMO also won its final three home games of the 2021 campaign and is presently 10-0 at home this year. The Redhawks are the only OVC team currently undefeated at home in 2023.
Redhawks Over 20 Wins
Southeast Missouri nailed down its 24th win of the season when it beat Lindenwood, 6-4, on Apr. 16. SEMO is tied for first in the Ohio Valley Conference with 24 overall wins and leads the league with 16 conference victories.
Davis is Rolling
Left-hander Marisa Davis is the Ohio Valley Conference's top pitcher in conference games this season. Davis is 5-0 with a staggering 0.99 ERA in 10 outings and five starts. She is averaging over seven strikeouts per seven innings and has struck out 30 in 28.1 innings against league opponents. Opponents are hitting just .144 against Davis in OVC contests.
Mighty Offensive
Southeast Missouri is hitting a league-best .357 in Ohio Valley Conference play this season. SEMO is first in the OVC in league games in on-base percentage (.448), slugging percentage (.529), runs (115), hits (160), triples (7), doubles (30), RBI (104), walks (69) and total bases (237). The Redhawks hold a +86 advantage (115-29) in scoring through their first 17 OVC contests.
Redhawks Lead OVC in Hitting and Pitching
Southeast Missouri leads the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average and ERA. SEMO is hitting .313 and boasts a 2.29 ERA through 33 games this season. The Redhawks also top the league in on-base percentage (.403), stolen bases (43), opposing batting average (.213), wins (24), saves (6), fewest hits allowed (171), fewest runs allowed (86), fewest earned runs allowed (70) and fewest walks allowed (61).
Over .300
Eight Redhawks are hitting over .300 this season. Zoe Schulte leads the team with a .422 batting average, while Aubrie Shore (.363), Paige Halliwill (.361), Abigail Rickermann (.355), Alyson Tucker (.346), Sydney Dennis (.329), Kat Sackett (.311) and Jillian Anderson (.311) follow.

The Redhawks are 18-3 in their last 21 games. Southeast Missouri heated up to win 14 of its previous 15 contests. SEMO carries a 10-game winning streak into Tuesday's doubleheader at Iowa State.
Unbeaten in April
So far this month, Southeast Missouri is undefeated at 10-0. The Redhawks swept both Tennessee Tech (Apr. 1-2) and Morehead State (Apr. 7-8), beat Southern Illinois (Apr. 11) and swept Lindenwood (Apr. 15-16) for their April wins.
