CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – #16 Southeast Missouri (19-16) will face #16 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (23-10) during the NCAA First Four of this year's Division I Men's Basketball Championship Tuesday. Tip-off is 5:40 p.m., CT at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio. The game will be televised live on truTV.
The winner of that matchup will face #1 Alabama in the South Region in Birmingham, Alabama Thursday.
This year's complete 68-team bracket was revealed Sunday during the 2023 NCAA Men's Basketball Selection Show live on CBS.
SEMO is in the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in program history and first in 23 years. The Redhawks were a #13 seed the last time they went to the Dance in 1999-2000. SEMO lost a close, 64-61, game to #10 Louisiana State in Salt Lake City, Utah that year.
The Redhawks, who put together their first winning season in nine years, won four games in four days to claim the OVC Tournament Championship and become the first team to punch its ticket to this season's tournament. SEMO became the first #5 seed to win the OVC Tournament in the league's tournament history.
SEMO beat #8 Lindenwood, 84-65, on Mar. 1, #4 Tennessee State, 91-83, on Mar. 2, #1 Morehead State, 65-58, on Mar. 3 and #2 Tennessee Tech, 89-82, in overtime on Mar. 4 on its way to the NCAA Tournament.
