FLORENCE Ala. – Southeast Missouri (3-2) picked up its second-straight win with a 5-2 victory over North Alabama (1-5) Saturday afternoon at Cox Creek Park.
SEMO started the first-ever meetings between the schools by securing the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 slots.
Romona Tarajova and
Ksenia Shikanova were ahead of Juliette Talieu and Martina Paladini-Jennings, 5-3, in an unfinished bout at the top of the card. At No. 2,
Daniela Hlacikova teamed up with
Teona Velkoska to defeat Valeria San Miguel Soria and Kalais Going, 6-3. Trinity Calinescu and
Vivian Lai then took down Ana Josic and Nicole Reilly, 6-1.
The Redhawks clinched their third win of the season with wins in the No. 1, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots.
Hlacikova won her third singles match in a row with a three-set victory over Talieu at the top of the lineup. She won the first set, 6-2, and rallied back after dropping the second set, 6-1, to win 6-3.
Tarajova followed Hlacikova with a, 6-4, 6-3, victory in the No. 2 position, while
Vivian Lai and Velkoska won in straight sets at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively. Lai upended Josic, 6-1, 6-0, and Velkoska blanked Reilly by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
SEMO returns to action when it travels to Bradley on Feb. 24.
