BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Terrico Garrett set a new Southeast Missouri school record in the men's 800-meter and
Taylor Fox set the new Southeast school record in the women's mile as eight Redhawks finished in first place, while 20 had top five finishes. SEMO racked up 15 new personal bests to conclude the Hoosier Hills Invite on Friday night at Indiana.
New Records Alert!!!
Terrico Garrett had an outstanding finish in the men's 800-meter. Garrett, a junior from University City, Missouri, not only set a PR but also set a new school record for the Redhawks. The previous record time was 1:50.42 but Garrett set the new record finishing with a spectacular time of 1:50.11.
Taylor Fox, a junior from Mt. Zion, Illinois, also broke the Southeast Missouri State school record in the women's mile and earned a new PR. She placed first in the event and crossed the finish line at 4:48.41 almost three seconds faster than the previous record of 4:51.94.
Alone At The Top
The Redhawks finished the meet with eight Redhawks alone at the top of the podium.
For the men's weight throw
Dylan Clark, a senior, topped all competition with a first place finish throwing the weight a final distance of 69-5.25 (21.16m) while also setting a personal record.
Katie Wegmann, the graduate student from Mequon, Wisconsin, finished the women's 3000-meter race with a time of 9:47.71, a new personal best and earning her first place.
In the men's 3000-meter,
Nick Cimmarusti finished first in the event with a run of 8:23.75.
Mark Crawford finished at the top of the podium in the 600-meter while also posting a new PR (1:19.52) just shy of the school record.
For the women's 600-meter,
Erika Mellor, a sophomore from De Soto, Missouri, set her PR in the event while placing first overall with a run of 1:37.48.
Personal Bests
For the men's weight throw
Dylan Clark (69-5.25, 21.16m).
Katie Wegmann, the women's 3000-meter with a time of 9:47.71.
Mackenzie Pugh also broke her personal record in the 3000-meter with a time of 10:51.38.
Connor Moore earned a new personal best in the 400-meter race, crossing the line at 51.32
In the women's mile, Madalyn Gray finished fifth with a time of 4:57.37 for a new personal best.
For the men's 3000-meter, three Redhawks finished with a new PR. Sophomore
Nick Cimmarusti (8:23.75),
Seth Gleason (8:36.19), and
Clayton Eftink (8:46.56).
The men's pole vault saw
Tanner Koontz place fourth while breaking his personal record. His new record is 15' 6.25 (4.73 m).
Mark Crawford posted a new PR in the 600-meter (1:19.52) just shy of the school record.
For the women's 600-meter
Erika Mellor set a PR in the event (1:37.48)
In the women's high jump
Sophie Dubis, placed third with a jump of 5-3.25 (1.61m) while noticing a new personal record.
Marshall Swadley set a new PR in the Men's Shot put with a throw of 56-10.75 (17.34m).
Notable Performances
For the men's distance medley, SEMO's
Terrico Garrett,
Brock Wood,
Justin Splitt,
Noah Little beat out Tennesse Martin with a run of 10:39.65 while placing first.
In the men's long jump, freshman Chris Johson finished with a top five finish in fifth place with a jump of 22-8 (6.91m).
In the women's weight throw Piper Kilnger finished in fourth place with a 60-2 ½ (18.35m) mark.
Breanna Miles and
Daja Gordon both placed in the top 5 in the women's 60-meter. Miles placed fourth with a time of 7.75 and Gordon was right behind her with a time of 7.77 and a fifth place finish.
For section one of the women's 400,
Laila Hardin, a junior placed second for the Redhawks with a run of 57.90 just .04 from a first place finish.
In the men's weight throw
Clay Alewelt finished fourth (59-4.25, 18.09m and fifth place
Marshall Swadley another sophomore with a throw of 59-0.75 (18.00m).
In section two of the women's 400-meter
Breanna Miles finished in third (57.68).
Junior,
Leanza Dwaah, from London, England placed fourth in the Women's 200-meter, coming in at 25.52.
Luke Busateri finished fifth place in the triple jump with a 45-4 ¼ (13.82m) mark.
In the women's distance medley the team of
Taylor Fox,
Erika Mellor,
Brianna Payton, and Madalyn Gray took home the silver medal with a combined time of 12:37.41.
The team of
Breanna Miles,
Erika Mellor,
Tayler Gudde and
Kaitlyn McGinnitey took fourth in the 4x400 (3:59.75).
In the men's 4x400 a SEMO team consisting of
Michael Weaver, Mark Crawford,
Brenden Parham,
Brock Wood placed second overall in the event with a run of 3:22.95.
Serena Wiliams took fifth in women's triple jump with a distance of 36' 5" (11.10m).
Looking Ahead
Southeast Missouri State track and field will return to Cape Girardeau next week hosting the Redhawks Open in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Meet will take place Friday, February 17, at the SEMO Recreation Center.
