Track and Field Opens Indoor Season at Illinois State Friday and Southern Illinois Saturday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri track and field opens the 2023-24 indoor season Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-2, at the John Coughlan Invite and the Saluki Fast Start.
The John Coughlan Invite is hosted by Illinois State university December 1-2 in Normal, Ill. The multis athletes will be competing in the Heptathlon and the Pentathlon inside Horton Field House.
Feuerborn will compete in the weight throw slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
Last Indoor season saw the women's team win their eighth indoor title with 183.50 total points, 80 points ahead of Little Rock who finished second.
The Men's team finished in third place with 128 total points, behind Little Rock with 160 points, and Eastern Illinois with 177.5 points.
Taylor Fox stole the show by winning two awards. Fox won the Female Athlete of the Championship and took home the Female Track Athlete of the Year.
Luke Hatfield-Jackson won Field Athlete of the Year and Tanner Koontz won Male Freshman of the Year.
Head coach Eric Crumpecker was selected as the OVC Women's Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career.
Looking Ahead
After this weekend the track & field team will travel to West Lafayette, Ind. for the Fred Wilt Invitational hosted by Purdue, Dec. 9.
