CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri volleyball (20-8, 12-5 OVC) dropped Wednesday night's match to Lindenwood (14-14, 10-7 OVC) in four sets by a final score of 3-1 inside Houck Field House.
SEMO dropped the match 14-25, 20-25, 25-15, and 23-25 in their third-straight loss and their first home loss since all the way back on August 26.
The match featured nine lead changes with 21 ties over the one hour and 52-minute match.
The Redhawks were led offensively by middle blocker
Marisa Guisti. Guisti finished with an impressive .458 hitting-percentage over 11 kills and 24 total attacks. She recorded zero errors in the contest. She added two solo blocks and four block assists to her stat sheet as well.
SEMO got off to a quick 5-0 start in the fourth set after winning the third set. A bit of an offensive struggle by both sides in the set, Lindenwood finished the fourth out hitting SEMO by a .130 to .114 margin to snatch their 10
th victory in Ohio Valley Conference play.
Libero
Tara Beilsmith, eyeing third all-time in NCAA history for career digs, finished the match with 37 digs as her defensive effort kept the Redhawks in several points. She recorded a perfect 1.000 reception percentage over 14 attempts.
As a team, SEMO hit .167 as setter
Izzy Lukens and rightside hitter
Kaelyn O'Brien finished with double-digit assists. Lukens finished with a team-high 27 while O'Brien had 10 from her position.
Lindenwood was led offensively by Anna Kraemer who finished with 12 kills and a .346 hitting percentage. The Lions, as a team, hit .204 over the four-set match.
Freshmen
Lucy Arndt and
Nina Schuberth recorded 10 digs a piece to help SEMO's defense. Arndt had a perfect 1.000 reception percentage on 24 total attempts while Schuberth recorded a .889 reception percentage (3 RE).
SEMO out blocked Lindenwood by a total of 7-6, led by Guisti and O'Brien.
The Redhawks will wrap-up the regular season on Thursday, Nov. 16, in the second match of the week against Lindenwood. First serve is set for 6 p.m., CT. from Houck Field House.
