Redhawks Set for Final Regular Season Series Against Lindenwood Wednesday & ThursdayÂ
Southeast Missouri volleyball (20-7, 12-4 OVC) will conclude the 2023 regular season with midweek action as they host in-state rival Lindenwood (13-14, 9-7 OVC) on Wednesday & Thursday, Nov. 15-16, in Cape Girardeau. First serve is slated for 6 p.m., CT. on both days inside Houck Field House.Â

Series History
The Redhawks have only faced Lindenwood two times in the schools' history as the Lions most recently jumped from NCAA DII to NCAA DI a season ago and played their first season as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference in 2022.Â
SEMO and LU are split at one game apiece as they split their regular season meeting last year in St. Charles. The Redhawks won the most recent matchup, the second game of the weekend, by a final score of 3-2 on Oct. 28, 2022.Â

As it sits right now, Southeast Missouri (12-4 OVC) currently sits in second place behind Eastern Illinois (13-3) with the final two matches of the season in front of them. Morehead State and Lindenwood, both 9-7 in the conference, sit tied for third behind the Redhawks.Â

Last Time Out
Last weekend, the Redhawks were on the roam in Cookeville, Tenn. where they dropped both matches on the weekend to Tennessee Tech for the first time, they have lost back-to-back games in consecutive days all season.Â

SEMO hadn't lost back-to-back games since way back in Sept. when they lost to Chicago State on Sept. 2 and Jackson State on Sept. 8 in the Chicago State Tournament and the McNeese State Tournament, respectfully.Â

Friday night's match saw the Redhawks fall to TTU in four sets. SEMO dropped the contest 28-30, 19-25, 25-20, 17-25 for just their third conference loss of the season.Â

SEMO was led offensively by freshman outside hitter
Lucy Arndt. Arndt finished with 15 total kills on 38 attacks (7 errors) for a .211 hitting-percentage.Â

As a team, SEMO hit just .135 compared to Tennessee Tech who finished with a .250 hitting-percentage as they won their sixth-straight match in league play. They entered the night in fifth place in the OVC.Â

Izzy Lukens dished out 38 assists as eight different Redhawks recorded a kill on Friday night.Â

Talia Gouard finished the night with the highest hitting-percentage on the team as she hit .429 with 10 kills, on 21 total attacks, and just one error. She was also lethal at the net as the middle blocker finished with four blocks.Â

TTU had four players finish with double-digits for kills led by Madolyn Isringhausen who finished the match with 20 kills and a .294 hitting-percentage.Â

Kaelyn O'Brien had a nice night off the bench for the Redhawks as the rightside hitter finished with nine kills and three blocks.Â

OVC Defensvie Player of the Week
Tara Beilsmith recorded 29 digs from the backline as SEMO finished with 72 digs total.

Saturday's contest saw the Redhawks get swept for just the second time all season. SEMO fell 21-25, 23-25, and 24-26 as TTU played their way into the upcoming OVC Tournament.Â

Offensively, the Redhawks were led by outside hitter
Lucy Arndt and rightside hitter
Kaelyn O'Brien. Arndt finished with 14 kills on 35 attacks for a .314 hitting-percentage.Â

O'Brien led the team with a .421 hitting mark, including her 10 kills on 19 attempts.Â

In the third set, SEMO battled as they pushed the game to extra points. A kill from O'Brien made the game 24-24 late in the set.Â

TTU would record the next point and was upheld following a SEMO challenge, to put the Golden Eagles on match point, 25-24. Following Tech's serve, a SEMO attack was blocked at the net to give TTU the win.Â

The Golden Eagles out blocked SEMO, 8-6, as the Redhawks dropped just their fourth loss in conference play in 2023.Â

Izzy Lukens dished out 33 assists to help lead the Redhawks to their .284 hitting-percentage. TTU's Jordan Karlen dished out 43 to help secure the win.Â

Lukens finished with a double-double as she dished out her assists and dug 10 balls in the match.Â

Talia Gouard, and
Zoey Beasley chipped in six kills each. The trio accounted for 18 of SEMO's 44 kills in the match. They also led the Redhawks in blocks as Gouard finished with four, while Beasley and Guisti finished with two blocks each.

Scouting The Opponent
Lindenwood
The Lions come to Houck coming off a 1-3 loss against Southern Indiana. Lindenwood went 0-2 against the Screaming Eagles this past weekend. On Friday the Lions had 60 total kills and had a hitting percentage of .205.Â

Against Southern Indiana, former SEMO player
Addy McAleer recorded the most kills with 20. McAleer leads Lindenwood and is ninth in the OVC in kills with 310 (2.90 K/S).

Outside hitter Nyah Wilson had a double-double with 13 kills and 17 digs. Wilson is second on the team in kills with 289 (2.70 K/S) and in digs with 309 (2.89 D/S).

Lindenwood has two setters with 350 or more assists. Fifth year setter Allie Otten has 667 assists on the year. Junior Abby VanBuskirk had a double-double against Southern Indiana with 42 assists and 15 kills and has a total of 393 assists this season.Â
