#7 Redhawks Set to Face #4 SIUE in Quarterfinals Sunday
Southeast Missouri women's soccer (7-5-5, 3-3-4 OVC) will face #4 SIUE (5-6-5, 3-2-4 OVC) in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Sunday, Oct. 29, in Edwardsville, Ill. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m., CT. from Ralph Korte Stadium. 
 
Series History
The Redhawks and Cougars will meet for the second time in 2023 on Sunday afternoon. SEMO won in the dying seconds of the match against SIUE in Edwardsville with Maddie Paulson slotting the game-winner in the 89^th minute. 
 
Overall, the series is tied 8-8-3 following the Redhawks victory on Oct. 1, 2023.

OVC First Round
SEMO advanced to the quarterfinals following Friday night's 1-0 victory over #6 Eastern Illinois. 
 
Emily Baker scored the Redhawks lone goal in overtime during the 94th minute off of a pass from Kiana Khedoo. Baker also had three shots with two of them being on target.
 
The Redhawks outshot the Panthers 14 to 11 in shots and six to five in shots on goal. 
 
SEMO's defense held Eastern Illinois to zero shots in the first half.
 
Cayla Koerner also had three shots with one coming in the first half and the other two coming in the second half.
 
On the defensive side, Sophia Elfrink had five saves with all of them coming in the second half. EIU's goalie Ella Kratochvil also had five saves on the night.
 
The Panthers leader in shots was Alex Tetteh who took four shots during the contest. Carys Grieve had the most shots on goal for EIU with two.
 
Six Redhawks played the full 110 minutes of the game. All three starting defenders of Natalie Jackson, Alayna Jakul, and Maddie Paulson and Emma Brune, Zoe Houston, and goalie Sophia Elfrink.
 
SEMO had three substitutes enter the game and record minutes, Cayla Koerner, Emily Baker, and Melissa Kubin.
 
Scouting the Opponent
SIUE
The Cougars last played on Oct. 22 against Morehead State where they lost 0-2. SIUE registered ten shots with six of them being on goal.
 
Against Morehead, Matea Diekema had four shots with two shots on goal. Diekema currently leads the team in shots with 24 and sogs with 11. 
 
Taylor Spiller SIUE's goalie recorded one save during the game. On the season, Spiller has 58 saves and allowed 21 goals. 
 
The Cougars leading scorer Sidney Christoper has three goals this season, two assists, 18 shots, and nine shots on goal. 
 
As a team, SIUE has the third most assists in the OVC with 15 and the fifth most shots with 185 (11.56 S/G). 
 
Earlier in the season SIUE lost to SEMO 0-1. In that game SIUE had nine shots compared to SEMO's ten and four sogs compared to SEMO's eight.
