Redhawks Conclude Regular Season Sunday Versus UT Martin
Southeast Missouri (6-5-4, 2-3-3 OVC) will conclude the 2023 regular season on Sunday, Oct. 22, against UT Martin (5-7-5, 2-2-4 OVC). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., CT. at Houck Field. 
 
Senior Day
Sunday's contest will be the final regular season match at Houck Field for seven Redhawk seniors. Midfielders Emma Brune, Faith Liljegren, Zoey Memmel, defenders Maddie Paulson, Natalie Jackson, and forwards Kiana Khedoo and Megan Heisserer will be honored prior to the start of the match. 
 
Series History
The Redhawks and Skyhawks will meet for the 29th time on the soccer pitch Sunday afternoon. SEMO holds a 12-10-6 series lead over UT Martin dating back to last season. 
 
The Redhawks defeated UT Martin 4-2 on Oct. 23, 2022, in Martin, Tenn. in the final match of the 2022 regular season. 
 
Last Time Out
SEMO soccer played to a 0-0 draw with Southern Indiana on Thursday in their most recent match from Strassweg Field in Evansville, Ind. 
 
The Redhawks were outshot 11-9 in the contest as sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Elfrink recorded five saves and a shutout. 
 
The Redhawks were led offensively by senior midfielder Faith Liljegren. Liljegren, the Collinsville, Ill.-native, registered three total shots with two of them on target in 64-minutes of action. 
 
Early in the second half, midfielder Zoe Houston recorded SEMO's fifth shot of the contest that was turned aside by USI goalkeeper Anna Markland. Markland had five saves on the night, as both goalkeepers earned a tie to their record. 
 
Five different Redhawks recorded a shot in Thursday's contest. Zoe Houston recorded a pair of shots, both on target. Kiana Khedoo (one), Cayla Koerner (one), Maddie Paulson (one), and Alayna Jakul (one) all recorded a shot. 
 
Six Redhawks played the full 90-minute shift on Thursday night including the entire back line of SEMO's defense in Jakul, Paulson, and Natalie Jackson. 
 
Zoe Houston, Emma Brune, and Sophia Elfrink made up the other three as all six have played the full 90-minutes in Ohio Valley Conference play this season. 
 
Scouting the Opponent
UT Martin
The Skyhawks come to town coming off a 0-0 tie against SIUE. The Skyhawks ended the night with nine total shots and four shots on goal. 
 
Against SIUE, Peyton Cook had the most shots with two and one shot on goal. Midfielder Izzy Patterson also registered one shot that was on goal too.
 
The Skyhawks had ten athletes register the full 90 minutes against SIUE with only two substitutes coming into the game. 
 
Cook is currently UT Martin's leader in shots with 36 (6th OVC) and in shots on goal with 19 (3rd OVC). Cook also has two goals, one assist, and a 0.528 SOG% on the year. 
 
Junior Makalya Robinson has the most goals for the Skyhawks this season. Robinson has four goals, one assist, 23 shots, and 11 shots on goal. 
 
There have been two goalies to see action for UT Martin. Poppy Bastock has started 15 games with 70 saves and 23 goals allowed. Andrea Wie has started two games with 11 saves and four goals allowed.
 
As a team UT Martin has the second most shots in the conference with 203, fourth in saves and goals with 83 and 18.
 
The Skyhawks are sitting in sixth place in the OVC standings with ten points right behind Southern Indiana who also has ten points.
