Volleyball Signs Butler University Transfer Marisa Guisti

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri volleyball signed graduate transfer middle blocker Marisa Guisti for the 2023 campaign.

A native of Peru, Illinois, Guisti played the last three seasons at Butler University of the Big East Conference. In 2022, she appeared in 27 matches and led the Big East with 1.14 blocks per set. Guisti ranked fourth in the league with 109 total blocks and recorded 94 kills on 271 attacks. She also had 50 digs and finished fourth on the team with 161.5 points, while earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District accolades.

"I am thrilled to add Marisa to our roster of experienced players for the 2023 season," said SEMO Head Coach Julie Yankus. "Her experience playing in the Big East will be a huge asset for our program. Marisa didn't just compete in the Big East at a high level, she even led the conference in blocks per set last season. I expect her to contribute not only on the defensive end, but also as an offensive threat in the middle. Marisa will be a great fit and I'm excited to see what she accomplishes during her time here."

Prior to Butler, Guisti spent her freshman year at La Salle, where she was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team. She led the Explorers with 81 blocks and ranked fifth with 185 kills. Guisti played in a team-high 110 sets and started 26 matches as a freshman.

As a prep, Guisti was tabbed the 2018 News Tribune Volleyball Player of the Year in the Illinois Valley. As a senior, her La Salle-Peru team went 32-5, earned a regional championship and advanced to the sectional finals.
